Airwallex is looking for a highly strategic and metrics driven sales manager with strong experience to lead and build our rapidly growing sales function for the Australian SME and mid-markets team. This is a career-defining opportunity to join Airwallex’s Australian Sales leadership team at an early stage, be deeply involved in building our sales machine into a large, successful, scaled, revenue generating function.
We're looking for someone with strong payments/fintech knowledge.

You will:

  • Lead, coach and manage a high performing team
  • Get deep with our AEs and coach the team on sales methodologies, strategies, tactics to win, close and improve sales effectiveness
  • Manage metrics and stay close to the ground as we find product market
  • Actively drive the creation of our sales and GTM strategy: what our value props should be, how we should pitch, and iterate regularly based on results
  • Build out a world class team: you should know how to hire A players and know what to look for in excellent sellers
  • Significantly scale our Australian revenue: you and your team will drive the majority of revenue for the Australian business
  • Create and iterate on comp plans, team structure, and team operating models
  • Directly assist in closing strategic and complex deals
  • Manage the day to day operations of the team

You are:

  • Highly strategic and a structured thinker: you know how to analyze problems and solve them at their root
  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity and building from 0 to 1: you’re joining at a time of hypergrowth so you’ll need to be excited to build the plane as we fly it
  • Highly skilled at managing multiple priorities and projects: one hour you’ll be on sales calls for our most important clients, the next you’ll be interviewing people to expand the team, and the next you’ll be analyzing metrics for trends and insights
  • Passionate about leading and coaching: you get excited by and know how to lead people, motivate them, and build highly resilient teams, especially because in 0 to 1 stage the team will regularly face rejection
  • An adept closer: you should have strong closing and deal making experience
  • An owner with an entrepreneurial mindset: you own your work, your function, your results and everything in between and you know how to roll your sleeves up and creatively problem solve your way out of issues

You have:

  • 8+ years of experience in fintech or financial services sales and experience running a sales team
  • A proven track record of closing deals and experience carrying a quota for yourself and team
  • Experience building and leading a team (scaling experience a plus) and more importantly, a strong passion for leadership and talent development
  • Experience deploying sales frameworks and methodologies to drive improvements within your team
  • Exceptional analytical and organizational skills - in one day you will be getting on customer calls, closing deals with your team, reporting on metrics, hiring your team, coaching reps, and working on GTM strategy
  • A passion for sales and adding value: you enjoy the art and science of selling and get excited about closing deals and helping customers
  • Experience successfully leveraging Salesforce, Outreach.io, and a sales tech stack: you know how to use tools to rapidly achieve your strategy, vs basing your strategy primarily on tools
  • Proven experience selling and understanding complex financial or technology solutions, including API integrations with limited solution engineering support
