As VP of Engineering, you'll lead a dynamic team, oversee diverse engineering domains, and drive delivery excellence. Your technical prowess, combined with leadership, product insight, and business acumen, will set you apart and allow you to make a significant impact. You'll ensure overall engineering quality, removing obstacles, guiding teams, and escalating when needed. In this role you will collaborate with global stakeholders, including the CTO, VP of Product and VP of Design, managing engineers worldwide (Australia, Greater China, EMEA and North America) to shape Airwallex's tech roadmap.

  • You are the overall owner, responsible for designing, implementing, and monitoring all operations and critical performance metrics, and operational efficiency within engineering team.

  • You are an inspirational leader, building, developing, and managing a global engineering team comprising 300+ professionals, fostering a culture of growth and excellence.

  • You are a visionary architect, collaborating with team leads to define our technology strategy and effectively communicate it across the organization as we scale.

  • You are dedicated to solving problems and implementing solutions, establishing standards and procedures to ensure consistent adherence to quality standards.

  • You are an advocate for a down-to-earth Engineering culture, leading by example to emphasize user impact and product delivery. You cultivate this culture as the team evolves, fostering leadership within the organization to strengthen it further.

  • You want to build a significant global business and understand the critical role engineers play in achieving that mission.

  • You have 15+ years experience in modern engineering practices, with a track record of leading, coaching, and mentoring high-performing engineering organizations - currently overseeing 300+ engineers in global operations.

  • You possess extensive and robust computer science fundamentals, along with expertise in building and designing scalable and resilient systems. Your contributions significantly impact the broader engineering goals of the company.

  • You have a successful track record of working with stakeholders to create engineering strategies and roadmaps, delivering impactful results both within and outside the company.

  • You are an excellent communicator, recognizing the importance of balancing product knowledge and technical skills. You can coach other engineers and product managers on both aspects.

  • You enjoy fostering an inspiring team environment that encourages idea sharing and values openness.

  • You demonstrate flexibility to work across global time zones.

  • Previous experience in FinTech/Payments is a plus
