We are looking for a People Operations Partner who can deliver excellent People Operations initiatives in the UK, Netherlands, Lithuania and Israel (EMEA). You will improve managers and employees’ experience throughout the employee life cycle in Airwallex. This will be done through developing, implementing and optimising HR policies, procedures and programmes. This role is based in the UK and will report into the Regional People Director.

The People Operations Partner supports overall HR functions and objectives, which includes policies & procedures, employee relations, performance management, benefits administration, training and development, and compliance with relevant employment laws.

Responsibilities include:

  • HR Policies and Procedures:

    • Develop, implement, and communicate HR policies and procedures

    • Ensure consistent application of policies across the organisation such as our Employee Handbook

    • Reduce risk and ensure regulatory compliance by maintaining knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day employee management and understanding when to escalate issues

  • Benefits Administration:

    • Administer employee benefits programs, including health insurance, pensions, insurances and other perks

    • Assist employees with benefits-related inquiries and issues

    • Lead the annual renewal process for all EMEA benefits

  • Employee Relations:

    • Address employee relations issues and conduct investigations when necessary

    • Provide guidance and support to employees on HR-related matters

  • Performance Management:

    • Support the performance management process

    • Provide feedback and guidance on performance improvement

  • Training and Development:

    • Help facilitate training sessions on various HR-related topics

  • HR Compliance:

    • Ensure compliance with local employment laws

    • Stay updated on changes in labour laws and regulations

    • Prepare and maintain HR records and documentation

  • Other:

    • Work with our payroll team on processing the EMEA payroll monthly

    • Work with our government authorities, immigration advisors and/or law firms to process and manage all immigration cases and mobility cases for EMEA

    • Work with EOR providers as needed

    • Partner with the People Team across the globe to gain alignment on people philosophy and programs where achievable and localise programs as needed

What you bring:

  • Proven work experience in people operations or similar role in a fast-growing startup/scaleup environment. You’re an executor who’s passionate about policies and procedures. You have accumulated tremendous pattern recognition from your experience, but you also have vision and conviction on how you’d like to do things differently when designing the People Ops function from the ground up

  • Are a masterful, precise, and tactful communicator. You can sell the Airwallex vision, engage professionally with candidates across all levels and functions, and convey complex information eloquently

  • Act as an “owner”, and drive initiatives forward autonomously, looping in others as needed for input, delegation, or support with key decisions. You’re great at proactively giving visibility on your work’s status, progress, or blockers

  • Have extremely high EQ. You are great at reading the room, picking up the unsaid, and tailoring your approach as needed

  • Care personally about the real humans behind the jobs, and are able to build strong and productive relationships with coworkers. Fostering a diverse and inclusive work environment is personal to you

  • Are a scrappy problem solver at heart who drives outcomes and avoids excuses

  • You hold yourself to an extremely high bar for execution, and hold others to that bar as well

  • Can balance many tasks at once and tackle them efficiently in an organised fashion. You are energised by the opportunity to bring order to the chaos of a fast-growing startup (emphasis on fast!). You don’t need others to implement the structure for you to be effective – you create your own clarity

  • Have mastery of HR systems (e.g. BambooHR, Lattice)

  • Are familiar with various legal requirements when it comes to payroll, leaves of absence, and immigration. Maintaining transparency and equity is a sticking point with you and you proactively raise concerns and solutions in order to help the organisation maintain compliance across all employee areas

  • Certification in Human Resources is an advantage
