The Role

Artesian is seeking a high-performing Investment Associate to join our team in Sydney with a focus on the AgriFoodTech vertical. This is a core team role ideal for a rising venture capital professional looking to grow within a fast-paced and mission-driven fund. The role involves end-to-end deal support, market research, financial analysis, investment memo preparation, and portfolio engagement within one of the world’s most important impact sectors: agriculture and food systems. You’ll collaborate closely with Principals and Partners and over time, expand your exposure across other verticals in Artesian’s portfolio including areas such as AI, robotics, health and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities

• Deal sourcing and pipeline tracking: Identify promising AgriFoodTech startups and founders through research, events, networks, and inbound applications.
• Initial screening and triage: Lead preliminary diligence and analysis on early-stage opportunities.
• Support due diligence efforts: Assist Principals and Partners with market research, customer references, and competitive landscaping for high-priority deals.
• Investment memo preparation: Draft and refine investment documents and decks for internal and external stakeholders.
• Portfolio company support: Monitor and report on portfolio performance, support with value creation and internal reporting.
• Engage in ecosystem development: Attend events, manage founder and investor relationships, and represent Artesian in the AgriFoodTech ecosystem.
• Support VCaaS execution: Contribute to mandate-specific research and reporting for government, industry and corporate LPs.

Ideal Candidate

• 2–4 years of experience in venture capital, startups, investment banking, management consulting, agribusiness, or a relevant technical/operational role.
• Passionate about the intersection of technology and agriculture, with curiosity and insight into emerging food, ag, and climate solutions.
• Strong research, writing, and financial analysis skills; able to synthesise information quickly and clearly.
• Clear communicator and team player; able to manage relationships and contribute to a high-trust, fast-moving culture.
• Ambitious and collaborative, with a long-term interest in building a career in venture capital and growing into a Principal-level role.
• Bonus points for prior exposure to venture investing, deep knowledge of food/ag/biotech systems, or a relevant technical degree.
