About the Role:
We are looking for a SysOps Engineer / Systems Administrator to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have deep experience working in Linux-based environments, strong skills in setting up and maintaining servers, and a solid understanding of remote access technologies. A key aspect of this role is direct collaboration with remote clients: gathering requirements, providing technical support, and ensuring clear communication around system performance and changes. This position blends technical ownership with client-facing responsibility.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as a primary technical contact for remote clients, addressing issues and providing solutions
- Deploy, configure, and maintain Linux servers in production and staging environments
- Manage remote access securely using SSH and related tools
- Implement and maintain monitoring solutions (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Nagios, Zabbix, or similar)
- Troubleshoot and resolve system performance issues for both internal teams and client-facing systems
- Ensure systems are secure, up-to-date, and compliant with internal policies
- Collaborate with developers, DevOps, IT staff, and clients to support business-critical applications.
- Document infrastructure, processes, and client-related workflows.
- Support and maintain production systems and networks
- Maintain and improve upon deployment strategies
- Review and optimize network architectures
- Document and diagram systems and networks
- Level 2/3 and periodic level 1 support
- Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders throughout the deployment and support process
- This role includes on-call support during weekends and holidays on a rotating basis.
Basic Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of enterprise experience in either: systems administration and/or systems engineering in a Linux or mixed server environment
- Strong knowledge of Linux system administration
- Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent industry experience
- Hands-on experience with server setup, configuration, and management.
- Proficiency with secure remote access methods (SSH, VPNs, bastion hosts).
- Familiarity with monitoring tools and alerting systems.
- Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (DNS, load balancing, firewalls).
- Excellent communication and client-facing skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple client engagements.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience with switching and routing principles and technologies, such as TCP/IP, UDP, ICMP, DHCP, DNS, Routing, VLAN
- Experience with network security design principles
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with IaaS/PaaS solutions, such as AWS or Azure
- Experience with Wi-Fi network administration
- Familiarity with Cybersecurity best practices
- Experience with sensor and data analytics solutions, such as IoT, lidar, people counters, and cameras
- Spatial understanding of physical spaces from floor plans and pictures desired but not required
- Airport experience and familiarity with the travel process would be advantageous
Nice to Have:
- Experience with Wi-Fi or camera site surveying
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).
- Automation skills with tools like Ansible, Puppet, or Chef.
- Scripting knowledge (Bash, Python, or similar).
- Exposure to containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
