The Field Engineer position is primarily responsible for traveling to project sites and collecting all field data required to complete detailed FTTH designs in Biarri Networks system. The Field Engineer works closely with internal Project Managers, Technical Consultants and the Permitting Coordinator to determine what data needs to be collected, and to collect that data from the field.

This position will require a significant amount of work-related travel to project and client sites in order to collect this data.

What you bring to the table:

  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to understand what information is required to be captured in the field and how that data is to be captured including existing aerial and underground utility data
  • Use Biarri Networks’ preferred system to capture all required information in the field
  • When required, capture pole data with sufficient information to allow MRE and PLA calculations to be performed
  • Ensure quality checks are performed on all data coming back from the field so that the data meets project specifications.
  • Manage a team of field crews as required for projects

Required Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong problem solving and data analysis skills,
  • Ability to work across multiple projects simultaneously, whilst staying organized,
  • Excellent communication skills to engage with internal and external stakeholders,
  • Self-awareness and empathy to maximize your user and team interactions,
  • Demonstrated willingness to learn and develop new skills and industry knowledge,
  • Experience with field data collection tools and methods including IKE or Katapult
  • Ability to understand, interrogate and manipulate GIS data
  • Ability to walk 5-10 miles a day

Required Education & Experience:

  • This role will be best suited for someone with 5+ years experience in-field fiber engineering including data capture for construction activities and pole data analysis
  • Experience with CAD preferred
  • OSHA experience preferred
  • Must hold a current driver's license
