About the role:
Are you a skilled phlebotomist with leadership experience and strong administrative capabilities, ready to take the next step in your career? We're looking for a people-focused and detail-oriented Team Leader to join our Bupa Medical Visa Assessment Centre in Canberra on a permanent full-time basis.
In this pivotal role, you will lead a dedicated team of Pathology Collectors and Administrators, ensuring a smooth and professional experience for customers undergoing health assessments as part of their visa application process.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Lead a team of pathology collectors and administrators to ensure the ongoing provision of highly professional and customer focussed service
- Develop staffing strategies and manage rosters
- Day-to-day engagement and relationship management of third-party providers
- Oversee and conduct health assessments and assist the administration team as required
- Treat customers with respect and dignity, considering their cultural and spiritual beliefs
- Ensure compliance with clinical governance, safety, and regulatory requirements
We are looking for:
We are seeking an experienced supervisory professional with strong phlebotomy skills who is ready to step confidently into a leadership role. This position is ideal for someone who has overseen small teams in either a clinical or administrative setting and thrives in a structured, fast-paced environment.
Medical Centre Hours:
- Monday-Friday: 8:00am - 6:00pm
- Occasional Saturdays to support peak periods: 8:00am – 2:00pm
- The successful candidate will work on a rotating roster with other centre leaders to support the opening hours.
About you:
- Hold a certificate III or IV in Pathology Collection qualification with extensive venepuncture experience
- Experienced in paediatric venepuncture is highly desirable
- Prior experience in leading teams with a minimum of 2 years’ is highly desirable
- Experienced working in a fast-paced healthcare environment
- Able to face difficult conversations and deal promptly when issues arise
- Exceptional communication, interpersonal and customer service skills, with the ability to work sensitively with culturally and linguistically diverse customers
