The Role
You will be responsible for building and operating Cicada’s content engine. That means creating, commissioning and curating useful, credible and engaging content that:
- Delivers ongoing value to Cicada members
- Strengthens brand clarity and authority
- Grows our owned audiences
- Provides reusable assets that support the wider business
Currently, much of our content is created ad hoc by senior leaders. This role brings structure, cadence and leverage - ensuring our community feels informed and connected, and that founders, partners and ecosystem stakeholders clearly understand who we are, what we offer and why it matters.
You will own:
Editorial Leadership
- Develop and manage a rolling editorial plan aligned to Cicada’s strategic priorities
- Establish clear intake and prioritisation processes
- Balance member value, brand positioning and business outcomes
Content Creation & Commissioning
- Write and commission high-quality long-form and evergreen content
- Develop founder stories, insights, explainers and ecosystem perspectives
- Maintain clarity, consistency and authority of Cicada’s voice
Publishing & Repurposing
- Structure content for effective distribution across website, newsletters and LinkedIn
- Repurpose content into reusable assets
- Build and maintain an organised content library
Stakeholder Engagement
- Partner with product, service and site leads to surface stories and insights
- Collaborate with Digital Marketing, Community, Commercial and the Executive team
- Provide messaging assets that strengthen broader business activity
Performance &Optimisation
- Review engagement signals and audience behaviour
- Refine themes, cadence and formats over time
- Improve systems for efficiency and leverage
About You
You’re both strategic and hands-on. You care about clarity. You understand that good content compounds - and that a strong editorial system is as important as a strong idea. You will have:
- Proven experience in content strategy, editorial planning or communications
- Exceptional written communication skills
- Experience commissioning or managing freelance contributors
- A strong sense of brand voice and narrative consistency
- The ability to balance depth, speed and reach
- Comfort working across multiple stakeholders in a dynamic environment
- An interest in startups, technology or deep tech ecosystems'
You’re comfortable making day-to-day editorial decisions within a brand framework, managing trade-offs, and knowing when to escalate high-visibility pieces
