As a Senior Statutory & Tax Reporting Specialist supporting the international
Financial Reporting & Accounting team, you will be trusted to work on statutory accounting, tax compliance, and financial reporting at our Budapest location, in a multinational yet family‑like office.
In this role, a typical day will include:
- Oversee all tax-related activities, including VAT, corporate tax, Intrastat, statistical reporting, and other local compliance obligations and tax group reporting
- Act as a Subject Matter Expert for statutory accounting and tax policies, ensuring full compliance with Hungarian standards and IFRS
- Prepare year-end financial statements with all required notes and documentation, and manage statutory submissions and audit support
- Perform period-end closing activities, validate inventory and statutory adjustments, and maintain complete documentation for audits and ensure that the IFRS activities for group purpose are in line with Alcon policy
- Deliver customer-focused services, escalate exceptions, and support continuous process improvements
- Deliver accurate and consolidated financial statements for monthly IFRS reporting FCRS, NPMR, ICR report and reconciliation; Follow up on EFA KPIs & R2R KPIs once communicated by the Region
- Performs the balance sheet account reconciliations of allocated accounts and ensures timely resolution and cleans of overdue items identified. Ensures proper accounting of financial transactions and accounting specific questions are well addressed and solved.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, respond to internal/external inquiries, and support SOX compliance and internal control requirements
WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO ALCON:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, with 10+ years of relevant experience; Registered Certified Accountant qualification preferred
- Native‑level Hungarian and fluent English communication skills, with strong collaboration, organization, and time‑management capabilities
- Expert knowledge of Hungarian statutory accounting, IFRS, and local tax regulations, with strong experience in tax compliance and statutory reporting
- Deep familiarity with audit processes and SOX requirements, ensuring high‑quality compliance and internal controls
- Proven proficiency in SAP and advanced financial reporting tools
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills, with strong attention to detail, accuracy, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a shared services environment
