This role is part of Alcon's Sales & Sales Support function, a team that helps provide access to products across all channels in an effort to drive customer satisfaction with eye care professionals to help people see brilliantly.

The Sr. Manager, Surgical Field Sales (Professional Path) is primarily responsible for driving sales operations and achieving performance targets for a regional or sub-function of sales. You will build an effective sales team through training and coaching, applying advanced knowledge and experience to meet objectives through self-directed work.

In this role, a typical day will include:

1. Sales Strategy & Execution

  • Execute the sales strategy for the Refractive portfolio across Iberia and Italy.

  • Achieve territory sales targets, revenue goals, and market share objectives.

  • Identify and prioritize key customers and customer segments for growth.

2. Key Account Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with high-value ophthalmic surgical centers, hospital groups, private clinics and distributors.

  • Lead contract negotiations and long-term agreements with strategic accounts.

  • Serve as the primary commercial contact for key decision-makers and influencers.

  • Collaborate closely with country teams to develop and implement account plans.

3. Market Development & Expansion

  • Identify new business opportunities and drive adoption of the Refractive portfolio.

  • Collaborate with marketing and clinical teams to support product launches, KOL engagement, and educational initiatives.

  • Monitor competitive activity and market trends to inform strategic decisions.

4. Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with the SalesForce, Clinical Application Specialists, Marketing, Regulatory, and Service teams to ensure a seamless customer experience.

  • Provide commercial input into product development and lifecycle planning.

  • Collaborate with regional and country colleagues to assess the potential for commercial model deals.

  • Partner with local & regional marketing as the SME for Alcon & externally organized events.

5. Forecasting & Reporting

  • Deliver accurate sales forecasts, pipeline updates, and business performance reports.

  • Use CRM tools to track customer interactions, opportunities, and sales activities.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO ALCON:

Qualifications:

  • Educated to degree level in a Science or Business/commercial subject

Languages:

  • Fluency in English, Italian and Spanish (verbal and written)

Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years in a commercial/customer facing/sales role

  • Clear track record of success

  • Consultative selling experience in B2B industries (ideally, high-end MedDev)

  • Ability to develop complex offers and communicate them clearly

  • Negotiation experience with senior level customers

  • Cross-functional and matrix working

Optional/Preferred Experience:

  • Medtech Industry Experience

  • Ophthalmology Experience

  • Direct or indirect leadership/management experience

  • Experience working with and “selling” services (e.g. value-added) in addition to working with products alone

  • Could have service provider/healthcare background

Competencies:

  • Proficiency in MS Office applications

  • Excellent business and selling acumen

  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, both technically and interpersonally

  • Strong problem solving skills

  • Strong relationship building and management skills

  • Ability to understand market dynamics and adjust strategies to ensure success
