As a Canada BPA Sr. Associate supporting the BPA Team, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the financial operations of the Surgical and Vision Care franchises for the Canadian market. The position encompasses comprehensive financial planning and analysis, overseeing monthly and quarterly processes, supporting month-end close activities, and contributing to the establishment of operating plans. Key responsibilities include conducting detailed variance reporting, scenario analysis, and ad hoc financial modeling to provide actionable insights. The Senior Financial Planning Analyst will also partner closely with business leadership to drive informed decision-making and support the franchise's growth objectives through accurate forecasting and data-driven analysis.
In this role, a typical day will include:
- Support monthly, quarterly, and annual FP&A processes for the Canadian market, including forecasting, variance analysis, commission reporting, and statutory compliance requirements.
- Support month-end close activities for Canada, including A&P management, and detailed expense tracking and analysis.
- Develop, maintain, and enhance forecasting and financial models aligned with business objectives, incorporating Canadian market dynamics, performance metrics, and evolving business assumptions.
- Support key strategic planning cycles such as Strategic Plan and Target setting, in close collaboration with franchise leadership.
- Conduct comprehensive variance analysis and performance tracking versus Budget, Forecast, and Prior Year, identifying risks, opportunities, and actionable improvement plans for senior management.
- Prepare Monthly Financial Reviews (MFRs) and Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs), including financial insights, standardized templates, and executive-ready presentation decks to support strategic discussions.
- Integrate and analyze financial data from multiple systems (SAP, ASPIRE, APMR), ensuring accuracy, consistency, and audit readiness for the Canadian market.
- Develop and create analytical tools, dashboards, and financial models that support decision-making for commercial teams, considering the specific needs of Canada.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to consolidate inputs and ensure consistent financial messaging.
- Provide timely, relevant, and actionable financial insights to leadership to support planning, performance management, and decision-making.
- Perform ad-hoc financial analysis and scenario-based modeling to evaluate business cases, risks, and opportunities.
- Ensure disciplined use of financial systems and continuously seek optimization opportunities.
- Support for Planning & Reporting Sr. Manager: Collaborate closely with the Planning & Reporting Sr. Manager in delivering on key objectives, including financial report creation, template design, ad-hoc analysis, and continuous improvement of planning processes.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO ALCON:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or Economics
- At least three (3) years of experience in financial planning and analysis (FP&A) roles
- Innately curious and possesses a solid ability to think creatively and develop new solutions
- Exceptional analytical abilities, capable of using data tools to drive decision-making and managing large pools of data in Excel
- In-depth knowledge of SAP & BI tools and practical experience analyzing data, program metrics, and performance
- Proactive communication style with the ability to build/foster relationships with business partners
- Excellent written and verbal English skills, along with quantitative, interpersonal, and analytical skills
