Alcon Canada’s Vision Care Team is looking for an Associate Sales Director in Western Canada to lead a regionally based business franchise through the development, coaching, managing, and directing of the Regional Sales team efforts. The Associate Sales Director’s (ASD) responsibility is defined over Eye Care Professional (Optometrist and Optician)-generated sales the Alcon Vision Care portfolio, effective management of Professional Account Managers (PAMs), and coordination with National Account Managers (NAMs) for Buying Group and Chain agreements. The role also involves developing and leveraging relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs). In this role, a typical day will include:
● Achieve annual sales quota, meet all expense objectives, maintain current business, and account base while growing new business.
● Train coach and develop sales force, ensure appropriate development and succession plans are in place. Conduct semi-annual and annual performance reviews. Identify and develop high performing associates to ensure promotional readiness and career development plans.
● Implement all key marketing initiatives. Contribute to marketing strategy by providing regular feedback from the field.
● Manage average selling prices in alignment with growth strategy of each product and approved promotional programs.
● Together with PAMs, develop annual and quarterly business plans for each territory. Plans will include at least: prioritization of accounts, sales growth goals, objectives for key POS, key tactics to be implemented and timelines. Annual planning will require input into regional quota building.
● Plan and lead regional meetings, collaborate on national sales meetings, lead planning for regional conferences, ensure appropriate KOL meetings are executed, attend quarterly management meetings.
● Understand and embody the continual change required to achieve our ambitious goals and ensure continuity of business results in transition phases.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO ALCON:
● B.A. Preferred: B.Sc., B. Comm.
● The ability to fluently read, write, understand, and communicate in English
● 8+ years’ experience as a Senior Sales Representative in a Business to Business selling environment, preferably in Optometry, Medical Devices, Pharma, Dental or other Health Care professional-associated industries.
● Or 2-4+ years’ experience as a Senior Sales Representative and 2-4+ years as Brand/Product Manager in a Business to Business selling environment, preferably in Optometry, Medical Devices, Pharma, Dental or other Health Care professional-associated industries.
● Demonstrated experience in training, coaching, and developing people.
● Influential leadership within a regional or national scope of responsibility.
● Travel up to 50%, including within region, to the Alcon head office in Mississauga, and to the US for National Sales Meetings.
● This role is for a region in Western Canada and requires the candidate to reside in Alberta or BC.
Preferred qualifications:
● Experience as a Brand/Product Manager in a Business to Business selling environment, preferably in Optometry, Medical Devices, Pharma, Dental or other Health Care professional-associated industries.
● Experience in a people manager or team lead role.
● Demonstrated experience with change management by leading a team of multi-stakeholders through change.
● Responsible for strategy, implementation, and managed progress of major projects such as: National Programs and Product Launch.
