This role is part of Alcon's Legal & Compliance function, a team that safeguards our company and our innovations to ensure our business is protected and our customers can access our eyecare innovations to see brilliantly.

The Manager, Legal & Compliance is responsible for supporting the business through proactive legal and compliance advice, risk assessment, and day-to-day legal support. The role operates as a trusted partner to business leaders, helping resolve legal and compliance issues, mitigate risk, and promote an ethical and compliant way of working across the organization.

In this role, a typical day will include:

Legal support and risk management

· Assist in identifying, assessing, and mitigating legal and compliance risks across business operations, supporting informed decision-making.

· Draft, review, and negotiate a broad range of commercial contracts, policies, and agreements to ensure legal soundness and regulatory compliance.

· Support the handling of disputes, litigation, and regulatory inquiries in coordination with direct manager, internal stakeholders and external counsel.

· Monitor legal and regulatory developments relevant to the business and support their translation into practical guidance.

· Provide legal advice on corporate governance, ethics, and business practices, escalating complex matters when appropriate.

Business partnering and negotiation

· Work closely with commercial and functional leaders to resolve legal issues and support compliant business solutions.

· Directly engage and negotiate with customers and business partners to resolve legal or compliance-related misalignments, ensuring outcomes aligned with regulatory requirements, contractual commitments, and company standards.

· Support contract negotiations across core business areas (e.g. sales, distribution, promotion, services), balancing legal risk and business objectives.

Compliance and ethics

· Support the implementation of compliance standards based on internal policies, applicable laws, and industry codes.

· Help ensure that business practices are conducted in line with global policies and relevant local regulatory requirements.

· Promote and help embed a strong compliance culture across the organization, supporting compliance training, communication, and awareness initiatives.

· Contribute to onboarding and refresher training on compliance topics such as Code of Conduct, ethical business practices, and interactions with customers or third parties.

· Support monitoring activities and internal processes aimed at identifying potential compliance gaps and implementing corrective actions.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO ALCON:

· Minimum 5+ years of relevant experience, preferably in-house, ideally within a multinational healthcare, medical device, or similarly regulated environment.

· Solid exposure to compliance-related matters, including ethics, regulatory frameworks, or industry codes.

· Strong contract drafting and negotiation skills, with the ability to translate legal requirements into practical business guidance.

· Ability to work autonomously on day-to-day matters while collaborating effectively within a matrix organization.

· Pragmatic, risk-aware mindset with strong stakeholder communication skills.

· University degree in Law from Romania

· Fluent in English and Romanian is a must
