Lead Product Marketing Manager, Payroll
Accounting & Finance, Marketing & Communications, Product
Sydney, NSW, Australia
We're looking for a Lead Product Marketing Manager to own product marketing for Payroll AU.
Payroll sits at the intersection of product, compliance, and commercial opportunity. Regulatory change (like PayDay Super), integrated STP and payslip requirements, and how we price and package the product all shape how this portfolio is positioned and sold - which makes it a genuinely exciting space to own end-to-end.
This is a senior IC role with real scope to shape how we win in this category. You'll build structured frameworks from the ground up rather than execute against someone else's brief, and you'll have genuine autonomy paired with clear expectations - so you always know what great looks like and have the support to get there.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain a clear, differentiated messaging framework for Payroll AU, with a defined ICP and messaging grounded in market insight.
- Lead end-to-end GTM planning and campaign execution for Payroll AU, from segment and channel strategy through to sales-ready, structured post-campaign outputs.
- Produce concise, immediately usable sales enablement materials, and own how that content lands with sales beyond just creating it.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with design, lifecycle, content, sales, and success to align messaging and ensure a cohesive end-to-end experience.
- Act as the go-to source on Payroll AU's health and performance, with accessible reporting and proactive market insight that shapes positioning and roadmap.
- Translate complex payroll and compliance details into clear, senior-ready narratives, in writing and in person.
- Champion Payroll AU internally, building alignment and driving new opportunities without waiting for direction.
Skills & Experience
- 5–7 years of experience in product marketing or similar strategic GTM roles, preferably in B2B SaaS.
- Experience leading go-to-market for high-impact product launches across multiple markets.
- Experience in payroll, HR tech, or another regulated product category is preferred, given the complexity of AU payroll compliance (STP, superannuation, award interpretation), but not required.
- Demonstrated ability to turn customer insight into messaging, content, and campaigns that drive adoption and impact.
- Strong business acumen and comfort working with data - including opportunity sizing, funnel metrics, and customer research.
- Excellent storytelling and communication skills - able to craft compelling positioning and clearly articulate value to internal and external audiences.
- Proven ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders and drive alignment in a matrixed organisation.
- Self-starter with strong prioritisation and project management skills; able to manage multiple work streams simultaneously
