- Collaborate in a Multi-Disciplinary Team to Drive Innovation
How you contribute
This role is an excellent opportunity for a skilled Embedded Systems Engineer passionate about developing high-performance embedded systems in the field of robotics and autonomous vehicles. At Emesent, you will be responsible for designing and integrating embedded software and hardware solutions, focusing on sensor and camera integration, as well as image processing. You will work closely within a multidisciplinary team, including experts in electronics design, mechanical design, software development, and robotics.

Here's what we need

  • Embedded Software Development: Design, implement, and optimise embedded software solutions using C++(11 onwards), both in bare-metal environments and with ROS. You’ll work with interfaces such as I2C, SPI, UART, CAN, and ROS middleware frameworks.
  • Hardware Integration: Collaborate with hardware engineers to design, develop, and integrate embedded hardware using Altium. This includes autonomous vehicle sensors like LIDAR, vision/camera systems, IMUs and GNSS receivers etc.
  • Sensor and Camera Integration: Lead efforts in integrating a variety of sensors, with a focus on expanding our capabilities in embedded camera systems and image processing, ensuring robust and reliable data acquisition and processing.
  • Physical Robotic Platforms: Experience working with physical robotic platforms is desirable, particularly drones with PX4, Ardupilot, or DJI autopilots.
  • System Debugging and Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve complex system issues, using advanced debugging tools and techniques to identify root causes and implement effective solutions.

How you'll succeed

  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in embedded systems engineering, with at least 2+ years in software engineering using modern C++ practices. Experience with microcontrollers, RTOS, and interfacing with sensors and communication protocols is required.
  • Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of embedded systems design, including microcontrollers, real-time operating systems (RTOS), and low-level programming in C++. Proficiency in ROS, image processing, and electronics design (Altium) is essential.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues in embedded systems, with a focus on root cause analysis and solution implementation.
  • Continuous Improvement: Experience in leading and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives in embedded systems design and development, particularly in expanding capabilities like camera integration, sensor fusion, and autonomous navigation.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team.
