How you contribute
The Director of IT will lead and manage the company’s IT infrastructure and strategy to support the development, deployment, and maintenance of hardware and software products. This role involves overseeing the IT team, ensuring network and data security, optimizing technological resources, and driving IT initiatives that align with business objectives. The Director of IT will act as a strategic partner across the organization, providing insights and leadership to foster innovation and operational efficiency.
Leadership and Strategy:
- Develop and implement IT strategies that align with the company’s overall business objectives.
- Lead and mentor the IT team, including IT managers and system administrators, fostering a high-performance culture.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to drive technological innovations in both hardware and software solutions.
- Provide guidance on emerging technologies and their potential impact on the company’s products and operations.
Infrastructure Management:
- Oversee the management and maintenance of IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, and data centers.
- Ensure the availability, performance, and scalability of IT systems to support both product development and business operations.
- Manage cloud services and on-premise solutions, ensuring they meet the company’s needs for flexibility, security, and cost-efficiency.
Security and Compliance:
- Lead efforts to safeguard the company’s data, intellectual property, and systems through robust cybersecurity policies and practices.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations (e.g., GDPR, ISO 27001).
- Implement disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
Vendor and Budget Management:
- Manage relationships with external vendors, including software providers, hardware suppliers, and managed service providers.
- Negotiate and oversee contracts, ensuring cost-effective procurement and optimal service delivery.
- Prepare and manage the IT department’s budget, ensuring spending aligns with strategic priorities.
Operational Efficiency:
- Oversee day-to-day IT operations to ensure reliable system performance and timely support for internal users.
- Identify opportunities to automate processes and improve operational workflows through technology.
- Ensure the availability of help desk support for employees, addressing hardware, software, and network issues.

How you'll succeed

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • 10+ years of experience in IT, with 5+ years in a leadership role.
  • Proven experience in managing IT infrastructure for hardware and software product development.
  • Expertise in cybersecurity, data management, and compliance in tech-heavy environments.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in the tech industry, particularly in companies that develop and deploy hardware and software products.
  • Strong understanding of networking, databases, and system architecture.
  • Leadership experience in dynamic, fast-growing companies.

Accountabilities:

  • Achieve 99.9% system uptime for critical IT infrastructure.
  • Reduce cybersecurity incidents by 30% year-over-year.
  • Ensure IT projects are delivered on time and within budget, with 95% adherence to project schedules.
  • Maintain IT spend within the allocated budget, achieving a 10% year-on-year cost-saving goal.
  • Provide quarterly reports on IT strategy alignment with business goals to the executive team.
