NVIDIA's Cloud data centers host ground-breaking products across high-performance computing to machine learning applications for autonomous vehicles and healthcare. At the heart of our data centers is the ability to engineer mechanical and electrical designs in close coupling to NVIDIA's industry-leading GPU and DGX products. We are seeking a Data Center Electrical Design Engineer to help design our next-generation AI Factory!

What you will be doing:

  • Collaborate with product owners and technical leads to identify and establish power infrastructure requirements for our next-generation data centers

  • Defining Development Roadmap and Creating designs from concept to the permit and construction document set

  • Defining critical equipment specifications and full-stack power systems for AI Factory covering utility interconnection, on-prem generation, BESS, Microgrid, and power distribution system.

  • Supporting advanced power system development and power system analysis including AC & DC Power Distribution, Automated Power Switching Schemes, Energy Storage Integration, Dynamic Power Behavior & Transient Analysis.

  • Partner with vendors and manufacturers to understand and influence data center electrical system product road maps to align with current and future requirements

  • Responsible for data center electrical designs, in collaboration with other teams, to incorporate owner project requirements

  • Prepare documentation including: Statements of work (SOW), total cost of ownership (TCO) analysis, and conceptual designs.

  • Collaborate with electrical simulation partners and internal Omniverse team to support the development of Electrical Digital Twin

What we need to see:

  • BS and/or MS in Electrical Engineering with a PE License (or equivalent experience) and 10+ years professional experience in data center design or construction

  • Ability to foster a creative and collaborative climate with multi-functional teams and external partners

  • Excellent written and verbal interpersonal skills to lead effectively across cultures and geographies.

  • Problem-solving skills and experience delivering solutions to sophisticated projects under pressure

  • Extensive knowledge of electrical power paths from the grid including high, medium and low voltage systems for both IT and Mechanical to the rack. Equipment to include Including utility interconnection, on-prem generations, BESS, power distribution for UPS, Generators, Floor PDUs, RPPs, Busway, and power supplies/power shelves, Chillers, Cooling Towers, CRAC, CRAH, as the need arises supporting data center environments

  • Extensive knowledge of short circuit coordination, AC and DC arc flash studies, and power system transient analysis.

  • Knowledge of building codes and laws including Life Safety, NEC, NFPA and OSHA

  • Understanding of electrical design and operational changes with high power rack densities

  • High level understanding of mechanical air-side and water-side systems for critically important environments and various data center HVAC topologies and solid understanding of control & automation systems, EPMS, building and IT monitoring protocols, data analysis and reporting, PQMs, and waveform analysis

  • Proficiency in software packages for design and analysis of electrical power systems, ETAP, PSCAD, or similar

Ways to stand out from the crowd:

  • Track record with delivering high availability and central initiatives in sophisticated, global environments

  • Proven ability to work across multidisciplinary teams—including MEP design, facility engineering, product design, simulation, equipment vendors, and business partners—to support colocation deployments, build-to-suit rollouts, digital twin development, and end-to-end electrical enablement for AI Factory infrastructure.

  • Experience with Direct Current (DC) power distribution (>>54Vdc) and Understanding of international electrical systems and designs and/or hands-on experience contributing to or deploying electrical digital twins, especially in platforms like Omniverse or similar

  • Experience with dynamic power behavior control & mitigation for large scale GPU deployments, and integration of BESSsystem, energy storage, Microgrid, On-Prem Generation, and Utility Interconnections into data center design

  • Expert level knowledge with one or multiple power sources for the data center, including utility interconnection, on-prem generation, BESS, etc.

The base salary range is 152,000 USD - 287,500 USD. Your base salary will be determined based on your location, experience, and the pay of employees in similar positions.
