How you will contribute to our mission in getting Australia to space:
The below is designed to give you an idea of the role you will play. There will be many more exciting and innovative things to do.
Financial Reporting
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP/IFRS.
- Perform detailed account reconciliations and financial analyses to ensure accurate reporting.
- Support management with variance analyses, trends, and forecasting inputs.
- Assist in the development and enhancement of financial reporting processes and controls.
Tax Compliance
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual tax filings.
- Compile financial data and documentation required for external tax advisors.
- Monitor changes in tax regulations and assess impacts on the organization.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local tax laws and filing deadlines.
Journal Entries & General Ledger
- Prepare and review complex journal entries, including accruals, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, and payroll entries.
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts on a regular basis.
- Support month-end and year-end close processes to ensure timely completion.
- Identify and resolve discrepancies promptly, ensuring proper documentation and accuracy.
Audit Preparation
- Coordinate and prepare materials for annual external audits and periodic internal audits.
- Provide detailed schedules, documentation, and explanations as requested by auditors.
- Implement audit findings and recommendations to improve internal controls.
- Maintain organized and accurate audit support files throughout the year.
Other
- General assistance in the Finance Department on accounting matters.
- Other duties as requested by the Chief Financial Officer / Financial Controller.
Mandatory Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Strong understanding of GAAP/IFRS.
- Experience with tax reporting and compliance requirements.
- Proficiency in general ledger systems and advanced Excel skills.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work independently.
Desired Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
- CPA / CA or progress toward CPA strongly preferred.
- 4+ years of progressive accounting experience, with emphasis on financial reporting and compliance.
- Experience with Xero or similar systems will be an advantage.
