How you will contribute to our mission in getting Australia to space:
The below is designed to give you an idea of the role you will play. There will be many more exciting and innovative things to do.
- Lead & support the design and manufacture of liquid rocket engines.
- Support the design, build and commission of a test facilities for testing rocket engines.
- Define testing requirements to qualify liquid rocket engines.
- Perform trade studies on bi-propellant rocket engines with electric motor and turbine cycles on the orbital rocket.
- Support trouble shooting of hardware and software.
- Review drawings for production.
- Perform design reviews.
- Provide senior influence and support of the development, work allocation of the supporting junior team in liaison with head of propulsion.
- Create document packages for design reviews and contribute as required to test reviews.
- Liaise with the Assembly Integration and Test department for production activities and identify supporting mechanical ground support equipment and production architecture.
- Record technical design details in reports.
- Overseas travel to meet external consultants when required.
- Provide senior influence, technical guidance and support the development and work allocation of the junior team in liaison with head of propulsion
- Other duties as requested by Management.
- Bachelors (BS) degree in an Engineering discipline
- 5+ years of experience a professional engineering environment (excluding internships)
- 4+ years’ experience with CAD designing parts and assemblies
(NX/Teamcenter preferred, but other relevant experience is valuable), or - Experience with at least one commercial FEA or Multiphysics simulation package (ANSYS preferred or NASTRAN, ABAQUS, CFD codes, etc.)
- Experience designing, manufacturing and/or testing Liquid Rocket Engines
- NV1 Security Clearance eligible preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
- Demonstrated experience leading a team of engineers and delivering commissioned projects within tight schedule and budget constraints
- Experience designing to Australian Standards for high-pressure fluid systems.
- Experience using diagnostic tools, data analysis and inspection methods to identify failures and maintenance issues on machinery
