Your Impact
As an Associate within the Public Investing (PI) Management and Strategy team, you will play a pivotal role in driving the operational excellence and strategic evolution of Goldman Sachs’ primary investing engine. Public Investing oversees over $3 trillion in assets under supervision (AUS) across Fixed Income, Fundamental Equity, Quantitative Investment Strategies (QIS), QES and Multi-Asset solutions.
In this capacity, you will function as a strategic business partner, focusing on enabling us to deliver our top business priorities and driving AI and automation which deliver scale and efficiency across the Public Investing COO team. You will be instrumental in ensuring the platform operates with precision while leading initiatives that modernize our business infrastructure and enhance leadership connectivity.
Principal Responsibilities
This is a dynamic, high-visibility role requiring a proactive professional who can navigate the intersection of business management, policy governance, and process transformation.
Strategic Operations & Optimization
- Process Transformation: Identify opportunities to automate and optimize existing workflows, leveraging digital tools to drive scale and efficiency across the Public Investing platform. Consider and execute how to integrate multiple divergent workflows for a common purpose into a unified process.
- Policy Governance: Ensure rigorous adherence to firmwide and organizational policies and best practices, including regulatory and internal standards such as FINRA. Focus on our risk and control framework and ensure adherence to RCSA, SOX, etc.
- Operational Excellence: Oversee daily operational functions with a focus on institutionalizing best practices and reducing manual friction within the business unit.
Strategic Communication & Stakeholder Management
- Content Strategy: Manage stakeholder communication and develop high-impact strategic content for key engagements, ensuring leadership messaging is consistent and data-driven.
- Leadership Reporting: Own the management and reporting of weekly leadership deliverables, providing transparent and actionable insights into business progress and performance metrics.
- Executive Support: Support the development of briefing packets and materials for operating groups, townhalls, and board-level postings, distilling complex information into executive-level narratives.
Business Management & Partnership
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Business COOs, Engineering, Legal, Compliance, and HCM to ensure the infrastructure for the PI business is robust, compliant, and scalable.
- Strategic Initiatives: Define and manage the execution of growth and efficiency initiatives, establishing KPIs to measure the effectiveness of the organization’s loading ratios and business plans.
Skills & Experience W e Are Looking For
- Experience: 2-4+ years of experience in Asset Management, Business Management, Corporate Strategy, or Operations, with a focus on process improvement and strategic execution.
- Efficiency Mindset: A proven track record of identifying bottlenecks and implementing automated or optimized solutions to improve organizational scale.
- Analytical Rigor: Strong quantitative and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage complex data sets and financial modeling in Excel.
- Communication & Influence: Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to manage senior stakeholder expectations and create professional presentations in PowerPoint.
- Adaptability: Ability to operate autonomously in a fast-paced, global environment, navigating ambiguity to deliver results on high-priority workstreams.
