Who we’re looking for:

We’re looking to expand our footprint in the UK and Europe, and we are seeking an enthusiastic Junior Business Development Manager to help accelerate our growth. You will play a key role in expanding Gridcog’s customer base in the UK and Europe and get to develop your sales skills and commercial experience, while helping to accelerate the energy transition in the process.

Our software helps energy transition leaders direct investment into energy projects that make commercial and environmental sense. Our clients include Consultants, Suppliers, Project Developers and Fleets Solutions providers. Your role will be to help identify, qualify and close prospects and leads, directly contributing to Gridcog’s growth.

What you’ll do as a Junior Business Development Manager:

  • Be responsible for winning new customers against agreed company targets. This includes qualifying our web leads, running client demo meetings, and coordinating follow ups with our prospects and pilot customers.
  • Identify potential customers through research and execute on agreed outbound lead generation strategies.
  • Provide clear briefs to your technical colleagues who will join you on client demo calls, providing product and industry expertise to support your sales activities.
  • Execute on and improve our commercial processes. This includes checking in with leads who have gone quiet and keeping our CRM up to date.
  • Share competitor, customer, and market insights with our product management team.
  • Build your personal brand in the GB energy industry by attending events and supporting Gridcog marketing activity including contributing to our thought leadership content (e.g. videos, blogs).
  • Help out with operational tasks that form part of the business development process including coordinating our responses to supplier onboarding questionnaires.
  • Act as part of a team, supporting your colleagues globally in pursuit of company wide goals.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Strong organisational skills and have a bias for action and follow up.
  • An interest in the energy transition and curiosity surrounding the projects that our clients are modelling.
  • Exceptional communication skills with a strong sense of customer empathy; you build strong and enduring relationships.
  • Ambition, energy and commercial drive. You will be comfortable in ambiguity and willing to get stuck in, Gridcog is a dynamic startup environment.
  • At least two years of professional experience and a tertiary level qualification.

We’d also love it if you have:

  • Experience working in the energy sector either in the UK or Europe
  • Demonstrated success in a SaaS or Startup commercial environment.
  • Engaging and persuasive writing and presentation prowess.
  • Fluency in a second European language.
  • Experience working in a startup, SaaS business or high growth company.
