We’re looking for an experienced commercial leader. You’ve successfully scaled a product in Queensland before. However, you have unfinished business. Maybe you have unfulfilled potential and you’ve been waiting for a company that matches your high ambition or a product that’s disrupting an industry. About the role
Halter is one of the world’s fastest-growing agritech companies, and the most transformative technology available in pasture-based grazing. With Halter’s cattle collars and app, graziers can virtually fence and shift their cattle, as well as proactively monitor cattle locations and behaviour. We’re looking for an exceptional leader to establish and scale our Queensland business. This is a rare chance to build on existing demand and unlock expansion.
Queensland, exact role location TBD - with regular travel required to visit customers.

Who are we looking for - these skills are essential for this role and reflect how we operate every day. We expect applicants to demonstrate evidence of these requirements in their resume, cover letter and in interviews.

You are creative and resourceful at chasing and realizing new growth opportunities. You can give examples of how you use data to identify and develop solutions to commercial problems.

Your colleagues will tell us about how you were one of the most effective leaders they’ve worked with. Your composure inspires your team to feel capable and safe, regardless of the challenges being faced. Bonus things you could bring along to the role (these are not essential for you to apply)

  • Evidence of delivering value to pasture grazing systems in the beef market in Queensland. You have empathy for farmers/graziers, and evidence of helping them succeed.
  • Experience working in a high growth tech company or similar field e.g. venture capital, management consulting, investment banking, law firm etc.
  • Experience working with international companies and different cultures.

What your day could look like

  • You’ll lead your team to achieve the growth objectives for your market by delivering customer value, growing our customer base, building out the team, embedding a high performance culture, and collaborating with teams in New Zealand and Australia.
  • You’ll champion the needs of our Queensland customers across Halter, ensuring they are prioritized in our product roadmaps and accounted for in company priorities.
  • You’ll develop and execute the growth strategy for Halter to scale across Queensland, establishing Halter as the category leader for virtual fencing. You’ll build the strategy to grow Halter’s brand and presence across Queensland, including our sales and marketing strategy. You’ll be an ambassador for Halter in Queensland with key industry stakeholders and at events.
  • You’ll foster a high performance culture. You’ll shape an inclusive and supportive culture that’s a strong blend of Halter’s high performing DNA with the local strengths of Queenslanders. You’ll be a great role model, maintaining high performance standards throughout your team.
  • Reporting to the VP Growth, you’ll work with leaders and other teams at Halter on scaling Halter throughout Queensland. You’ll provide input into key company strategic priorities when required.

Halter in Australia
Halter started in New Zealand and is one of the fastest-growing companies in New Zealand. Halter’s customer base expands across New Zealand, Australia and the US.
In Australia, Halter entered Tasmania 20 months ago and has rapidly expanded to now have 20% of the state’s dairy herd with Halter - a thriving customer base, managed by a talented local team.
Queensland is an incredible growth opportunity for Halter; it’s a world-leading beef market with over 10 million cattle and some of the largest stations in the world. The market opportunity for Halter is vast and the need for a high-quality product is clear. Farmers, graziers, environmental and industry groups are looking to virtual fencing to improve productivity and sustainability. Halter’s product brings a world-leading solution to this market. In July we launched our first Queensland customer and over the coming months we are launching many more. We are recruiting the core team to lead this expansion.
In Victoria, NSW and South Australia, Halter does not yet have customers but there is a groundswell of demand for Halter across thousands of farmers. In Australia, virtual fencing is regulated by individual states’ animal welfare legislation. Currently, Victoria, New South Wales, and South Australia have legislation that does not permit farmers to use high-quality virtual fencing technology. This legislation was set years before Halter existed, and virtual fencing technology has advanced considerably in recent years. These states are now reviewing their legislation and we are actively engaging with governments around modernizing this legislation.
