THE ICONIC Commercial team sits at the heart of fashion, product and customer insight —blending data, trends and commercial smarts to shape what our customers see, love and shop next.
Our Category Buying team partners closely with Planning to curate exciting, customer-first ranges that drive sales, maximise profit and keep THE ICONIC ahead of the curve. From spotting what’s trending to building forward-thinking assortments, the team plays a key role in delivering a platform of choice for our customers.
In this exciting role, you’ll play a key part in shaping the Own Brand category at THE ICONIC, supporting the Buying and development of commercially strong product that reflects our customer, market trends, and brand strategy. Working closely with Design, Planning, Technical, Marketing, and our suppliers, you’ll help build ranges that balance newness, quality, margin, and customer appeal — while developing strong buying, negotiation, and fabric knowledge.
Key Responsibilities
You’ll understand critical path milestones and be highly organised, commercially curious, confident working with suppliers, and passionate about product, fabric, quality, and negotiation. You will also have a proven ability to drive the success of a department through creative and commercial thinking.

Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships, supporting clear communication, cost negotiation, and on-time product delivery.
- Support negotiations across product costs, minimums, lead times, and terms to deliver strong margin and commercial outcomes.
- Develop strong fabric, garment construction, fit, and quality knowledge to support confident product decision-making.
- Assist in building balanced Own Brand ranges across core product, newness, and seasonal opportunities.
- Partner closely with Design, Planning, and Technical teams to ensure ranges reflect customer needs, market trends, and business targets.
- Analyse weekly trade performance, identifying actions across sales, profitability, stock cover, and product opportunities.
- Monitor competitor activity and market trends to help identify newness and commercial product opportunities.
- Work with Marketing and Creative teams to align product assortment with brand messaging, campaigns, and customer storytelling.
You’ll understand critical path milestones and be highly organised, commercially curious, confident working with suppliers, and passionate about product, fabric, quality, and negotiation. You will also have a proven ability to drive the success of a department through creative and commercial thinking.
What It Takes
- Minimum 2 years + experience at Assistant Buyer/Junior Buyer level
- Proven track record of exceeding expectations and ability to understand and drive process improvements that benefit wider team
- Creative mindset, a passion for fashion and market trends paired with excellent analytical skills and a strong business acumen.
- Proactive, autonomous problem solver, with an entrepreneurial spirit and an ability to multitask .
- Ability to influence, strong negotiator and communicator in both verbal and written communication - can get the best out of people and suppliers
- Proficient in Excel
