McDonald's Australia is looking for a Senior Manager, External Communications on a 14 month contract to help shape and protect the reputation of a brand that serves around 2 million customers every day. Reporting to the Senior Director, Impact & Corporate Relations, you'll lead our external communications strategy, manage media and reputation risks, and tell the stories that showcase our positive impact in communities across the country. This is a senior leadership role with real influence, advising senior leaders, leading agency partners, acting as a media spokesperson and developing an emerging communications talent along the way.

What You Can Expect On a Day-to-day Basis
- Developing and delivering external communications strategies aligned to business objectives
- Protecting and enhancing our reputation through proactive storytelling and sharp issues and crisis management
- Acting as a media spokesperson and lead media engagement on our behalf
- Managing PR agency partners across strategy, scope, budget and performance
- Partnering with internal teams to uncover compelling corporate, business and impact stories
- Providing strategic communications counsel to senior leaders
- Building lasting relationships with journalists, content creators and stakeholders
- Supporting franchisees with local media and issues management
- Leading and developing our Brand Communications Specialist
- Proven experience across the Australian media landscape (business, consumer and trade)
- A strong record of securing coverage for consumer, corporate and reputation-led stories
- Experience advising senior leaders and leading communications through complex, high-risk issues
- Exceptional writing, editing and key-message skills
- Confidence operating independently in a fast-paced, ever-evolving environment
- Strong project management, stakeholder influencing and agency management skills
- A collaborative, ethical and solutions-focused mindset
