The Digital Risk and Data Enablement Leader, leads the governance, and risk management practices for Helia’s data, digital and cyber risk capabilities. This role plays a pivotal part in improving data quality, enabling secure digital transformation, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and embedding strong first-line governance. The role integrates leadership across enterprise-wide data enablement and cyber/digital risk, working closely with business and technology leaders to safeguard Helia’s information assets and operational resilience.

Responsibilities

Data Enablement and Governance

  • Establish and lead Helia’s enterprise data governance roadmap and data ethics principles

  • Refresh, design and implement data governance frameworks, policies, and controls to ensure high data quality, data protection, and regulatory compliance (e.g., CPG235)

  • Define and oversee data stewardship roles, accountability models, and data literacy initiatives

  • Act as a liaison between business and technology teams to align data protection requirements with strategic planning

  • Monitor and report on data governance compliance and performance metrics to senior leadership

  • Facilitate enterprise-wide education to improve understanding of data-related standards, policies, and responsibilities

Cyber, Digital Risk Management

  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve Helia’s Technology and Operations risk framework aligned with ISO 27001, NIST, CPS234, and CPS230 standards

  • Perform risk identification, assessment, monitoring, and reporting across cyber, data, digital delivery, and emerging technologies

  • Lead independent deep dives into control environments and oversee internal/external audit readiness and controls assurance programs

  • Partner with 2nd and 3rd line risk functions to operationalize risk management strategies and ensure regulatory compliance

  • Provide risk guidance for major technology change initiatives, agile delivery squads, and third-party/vendor engagements

  • Contribute to the development and testing of business continuity and incident response plans

  • Support the Technology and Operations Risk Council (TORC) Objectives

  • Facilitation of the Safety Team to assist with the identification and mitigation of risks relating to Polices/Standards within their area of expertise

Leadership

  • Provide leadership, coaching and guidance to the team. Ensure that activities in these areas are coordinated and aligned to deliver on business objectives.

  • Lead, manage and develop the team, ensuring capabilities are in place to meet current and future needs

  • Ability to manage and influence cross-functional teams in complex environments

Qualifications

  • 7+ years' experience in data governance, risk management, or compliance within financial services.

  • Demonstrated expertise in regulatory frameworks (CPG235, CPS234, CPS230), data protection, and cybersecurity standards.

  • Strong understanding of data management principles, risk frameworks, cloud technologies, and controls assurance practices.

  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving capabilities.

  • Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to present complex ideas clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.

  • High integrity, discretion, and commitment to confidential and ethical practices.
