As a Senior Engineer, you are not confined to a layer of the stack. With strong engineering foundations and effective use of AI, you can and should contribute across the entire system – from designing databases, defining infrastructure in AWS CDK, writing backend services, to shipping frontend UIs. Reporting to a Principal Engineer, you will be a fully hands-on engineer accountable for delivering secure, resilient and scalable cloud-native solutions in a regulated financial services environment.

Responsibilities

• Work as one of three engineers in a high-trust, self-managing squad.

• Design, build and operate scalable, secure and maintainable solutions aligned to agreed architecture.

• Contribute to planning, estimation and delivery with shared accountability.

• Take operational and product responsibility for what you build – monitoring, support, observability, engage stakeholders, confidently demo outcomes in showcases.

• Use AI coding assistants daily to accelerate design, implementation, testing and refactoring.

• Design small agentic workflows to automate repetitive tasks (test generation, migration scripts, documentation, validation, etc.).

• Contribute wherever the team needs you – infrastructure (AWS), backend (springboot, java 21), data (AWS Glue, DBT, Postgres, SQL, python), AI (AWS Bedrock) or frontend (typescript).

• Build and evolve AWS infrastructure using CDK and infrastructure-as-code practices.

• Build or experiment with AI agents utilising AWS Bedrock AgentCore or the latest native agentic platforms.

• Design and implement backend services and APIs.

• Contribute to frontend applications and user experiences.

• Apply strong software engineering fundamentals and maintain strong engineering judgement.

• Embed DevSecOps practices into everyday engineering.

• Design with security, privacy and compliance in mind from the outset.

• Use CI/CD, automation and infrastructure-as-code as standard practice.

• Balance speed with safety in a regulated financial services context

What you’ll bring

• Strong grounding in software engineering fundamentals.

• Worked with AWS (certification highly advantageous).

• Exposure to infrastructure-as-code (ideally AWS CDK), backend development and frontend technologies.

• Understand DevOps practices, CI/CD and observability.

• Appreciate security, resilience and compliance considerations in regulated environments.

• Communicate openly, ask for help early and give feedback constructively.

• Excited by the idea of becoming a genuinely AI-native engineer – someone who combines deep foundations with modern tooling to achieve outsized impact.

• Data Analytics: PostgreSQL, AWS Aurora and RDS, SQL, AWS Glue, Python
• Frontend Development:L TypeScript, Modern frontend frameworks and UI development practices
