Overview
The Senior Associate works closely with other members of the IQT Investment Team in networking, sourcing, performing diligence, and making investments. In addition, the Senior Associate contributes to specific market research in targeted technology sectors with an emphasis on delivering high-quality investment theses, presentations, and reports from this research. The Senior Associate has prior VC, entrepreneurial, operational, or startup experience. The ideal candidate brings enthusiasm for IQT’s mission, passion for technology startups, strong analytical ability, intellectual curiosity, integrity, and a bias for action.
Responsibilities
Deal Sourcing & Relationship Management
- Develop relationships with entrepreneurs, investors, academics, government employees, and other people to a) generate consistent, high-quality deal flow b) enhance IQT subject matter expertise and c) promote the IQT brand within the venture ecosystem.
- Synthesize and deliver written assessments on prospective startup investment opportunities
- Build and maintain cross-functional relationships across IQT in support of pre- and post-investment activities.
Deal Execution & Portfolio Support
- Support senior Investment Team Members in transaction diligence, investment memo preparation, and with other investment-related activities.
- Coordinate the activities of legal, finance, technology, and administrative resources in carrying out deal and research tasks.
- Assist senior Investment Team members in providing support to portfolio companies
Market Research & Thought Leadership
- Work with teams to conduct quantitative and qualitative market research on specific venture-backed tech sectors and related companies. Synthesize research and findings into high-quality investment theses, presentations, and/or reports.
- Maintain general awareness of venture industry and technology market trends, challenges, and opportunities and communicate insights effectively to both internal and external stakeholders.
- Begin to build expertise in select tech/market areas, including representing IQT at industry events or conferences.
Qualifications
- Due to contractual reasons, U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance. Candidates with active top-secret clearance preferred.
- Enthusiasm for the IQT mission
- Passion for emerging technology and the venture capital industry
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience)
- Prior relevant experience in VC, investment, entrepreneurial, operating, strategic, and/or finance roles
- Critical thinker with strong interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills
- Highly motivated self-starter, able to work in unstructured environment
- Ability to quickly research, understand, and synthesize learnings about new technology sectors and companies
