Director, Head of, Leader of Summit Community.

Innovation Bay is Australia’s leading community of tech founders and investors. We started in Sydney in 2003, as an invitation-only group of crazy tech founders and investors. In 2019 we evolved into a membership model and launched our first community, Summit. We are a for profit, impact-driven business. Our core purpose is to drive the success and impact rate of innovative tech-centered companies across Australia and NZ. We want to improve the world around us and we believe that tech startups are a key part to achieve this.

Summit is specifically designed for later-stage tech founders who have a strong product market fit, are scaling and want to share their experiences through peer-to-peer learning. It has, without a doubt, been the most impactful and rewarding initiative we have ever launched. We currently have over 50 amazing tech founders from across Australia and New Zealand in this community and growing. We have a renewal rate of over 90%. Let’s be clear, we love Summit. As founders ourselves, it addresses the core problem that faces Australian and NZ founders today, isolation and a lack of peer knowledge sharing. Summit is made up of Australian and NZ tech founders with an average valuation of just over $100M; most companies have teams of 35+ and are scaling significantly.

We are now searching for someone who can lead, run and grow the community. The core of this role include,

  • Engaging with the community to understand their needs, desires and aspirations
  • Curating and leading events that enable and empower the community to come together
  • Run core programs that facilitate engagement and empower knowledge share across Summit, and position Summit as a unique community
  • Identifying and attracting new members; we want to grow Summit in a sustainable and considered way
  • Working with our events team to craft experiences that become memories
  • Working with our Head of Partnerships to acquire and manage great Summit partners
  • Working with our Marketing and Communications department on content discovery and amplification

You will manage your own P&L with EBIT and revenue goals. Associated with this will be the autonomy to invest in unique programs and events that shape Summit.

We are looking for someone who understands, and knows how to build exceptional communities with a love of working with tech founders. Someone who loves engaging with people and helping them achieve their goals.

We are open in terms of your background. This role has elements of Program Management, Sales and Marketing, Events, Customer Management and Operations. Innovation Bay has a Membership Team (where this role sits) and a Shared Services Team, which includes Events, Marketing and Communications, Partnerships, Operations, Finance and Strategy. We are remote first, with a team based across Australia. We come together often (but not often enough) through planning sessions and events and seek to drive a culture of support, radical candor and work life balance. Although we started the business in 2003, we have only really just started our impact journey, since we launched Summit in 2019 and have grown the team from 3 to 12 in the past year. We are a small team of overachievers, driven by the impact we make across our communities, network, and the industry at large.

This role will report directly to the Founder/CEO. Innovation Bay exists to help founders and investors build better and more successful companies. We do this by focusing on founders, helping connect them with capital, mentors, connectors and team members.
