The successful candidate will play a key role in the execution of membership strategies for our Founder communities - Canopy (early stage founders & CEOs) and Summit (later stage founders & CEOs). This role’s primary focus is to support the Community Directors to drive value and engagement for our members across a mix of focus areas including events, content, marketing and operations, We drive value across a handful of key pillars - Community, Education and Peer to Peer Shared Knowledge - all centred around unique events and quality content.

What we will be looking for,

  • Knowledge and experience in running events. We will run 10 events for these communities in FY23 which range from three day adventures to one hour online seminars. While we have a centralised events team, hands-on experience in event management is a key component to the role.
  • Membership and project management. Experience in managing and growing a membership structure and running projects is highly desirable, in particular, within a founders environment.
  • A passion for working with Founders who are driving innovation and change. We feel privileged to work with an amazing group of game changers. We are an impact driven business that focuses on supporting founders and CEOs
  • Experience or capability to deliver a program of content and events over a year. Being able to write well and craft concise and clear communications is a must.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment both as part of a small but impact-driven team, as well as autonomous.

We have now established an amazing group of members, who range from teams of 200+ and valuations of $1B to teams of 5 with valuations of $2M. Our mission is to drive the success rate of these founders, by providing community and a trusted environment in which to share intimate content and learnings. We do this by bringing our members together to connect and discuss topics that directly impact their ability to be successful.

Innovation Bay is Australia’s oldest and most respected community of tech founders and investors. Our community is centred around peer-to-peer learning and relationship building. We have created four key communities within Innovation Bay:

  1. Canopy (early stage founders & CEOs)
  2. Summit (later stage founders & CEOs)
  3. Horizon (angel investors)
  4. Aurora (venture capital partners)

We have spent the past two years evolving our business model to support the growth of these four key communities. We believe that by supporting founders and investors within an interconnected community, we will play a key role in a thriving national startup tech ecosystem.

What personal characteristics are we looking for?

  1. A network builder. Someone who is relationship focused and loves building meaningful partnerships. This requires astute commercial acumen to determine who to partner with, based upon a mix of analytical research, investigation and personality. You will listen more than you talk.
  2. You will be a planner and love establishing structured goals that you measure yourself against. Innovation Bay provides a lot of autonomy. You will be self motivated and driven. In order to succeed, you will have to try new things and approach this with an analytic mindset to determine impact.
  3. You will be entrepreneurial. This role doesn’t have a guide book, so it will require initiative and original thinking. We are looking for someone who understands how to build and take something to market.

This role can be based anywhere in Australia. We operate within a highly supportive, but autonomous environment. We use a range of platforms to help us operate effectively, like Monday, Slack, Zoom, but most of all we talk, we share and we encourage honest and transparent conversations that celebrate success as well as failure.
