The Role

We are seeking an experienced HR Operations Consultant to support key HR initiatives across the organisation. Reporting to the CFO and working closely with leadership, this role will focus on HR policies and compliance, HRIS management (Rippling), and performance management, ensuring our HR infrastructure effectively supports employees across Australia and the United States.

This is a hands-on, part-time role (1–1.5 days per week) suited to someone who enjoys building and improving HR processes in a lean, high-impact environment.While not essential, the ability to attend the Sydney office on a periodic basis would be beneficial. A competitive hourly rate will be offered, commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities

HR Policies & Compliance

  • Review, develop, and maintain HR policies and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable employment laws and regulations.
  • Support the development and updating of employee handbooks and HR documentation.
  • Provide guidance to leadership on HR policies, employee relations, and compliance matters.
  • Ensure HR practices align with both company policies and regulatory requirements, including support for US operations.

Performance Management

  • Support the design and implementation of performance management processes and frameworks.
  • Assist in managing performance review cycles and goal-setting processes.
  • Provide guidance to managers on performance discussions, documentation, and improvement plans.
  • Support initiatives that enhance employee accountability, engagement, and development.

HRIS Management (Rippling)

  • Manage and optimize the company’s global HRIS platform (Rippling).
  • Oversee employee lifecycle processes including onboarding, offboarding, and employee data changes within the HRIS.
  • Generate HR reports and insights using HRIS data.
  • Identify opportunities to improve HR processes through better system utilization.

HR Advisory & Operational Support

  • Provide HR guidance to managers on employee matters and HR best practices.
  • Support HR projects and initiatives that improve organizational effectiveness.
  • Assist with HR reporting, analytics, and workforce insights.

Talent & Recruitment Support (as needed)

  • Provide guidance to hiring managers on recruitment processes, role scoping, and interview best practices
  • Support the development of job descriptions and hiring documentation
  • Ensure recruitment processes are structured, consistent, and aligned with company policies
  • Maintain alignment between hiring practices and broader HR systems and processes (including HRIS integration)
  • Note: This role is not responsible for end-to-end recruitment delivery but will provide guidance and support to ensure effective and consistent hiring practices.

About You

  • Proven experience in a hands-on HR generalist or HR consulting role, with a strong focus on policies, compliance, and HR operations
  • Solid understanding of employment legislation and HR best practices in Australia. Experience supporting US-based teams or familiarity with US employment practices is highly regarded
  • Experience managing or administering an HRIS platform including employee lifecycle processes (onboarding, offboarding, changes)
  • Demonstrated experience supporting or implementing performance management frameworks and review cycles
  • Comfortable working in a standalone or lean HR environment, with the ability to build and improve processes from the ground up
  • Strong attention to detail, particularly in relation to HR data integrity, documentation, and compliance
  • A proactive, self-directed approach with the ability to prioritise and manage competing demands
  • Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to coach and support leaders
  • Adaptable and pragmatic, with a focus on delivering practical, fit-for-purpose HR solutions
