The Role:
We are seeking an experienced SaaS scaleup Chief Technology Officer (CTO) with proven leadership in executive roles leading global teams, a history of delivering outstanding performance and possessing strong business acumen. As the CTO, you will report to the CEO and be responsible for leading our technical strategy and scaling our engineering function with a focus on quality, security, operational excellence and on-time product delivery. Based at our Sydeny office in Chippendale, you will be an integral part of the senior leadership team, partnering with other leaders across the company to translate the company vision and strategy into engineering outcomes that enable the company to achieve its purpose at scale.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the global technology organization consisting of over 40 employees in Software Engineering, Quality Assurance, Database, Business Intelligence, Infrastructure, Security and IT Operations teams
- Provide leadership, management, and governance for technology teams, setting clear goals, continuously giving feedback, and promoting professional growth.
- Drive a culture of technical expertise and excellence within the teams, fostering continuous learning and development.
- Stay updated with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices, and apply them to enhance our technological capabilities short and long term.
- Drive the effective execution of the vision of a modern SaaS platform across multiple dimensions - security, cost-effectiveness, observability/visibility, fault-tolerance, performance, automation, configurability, and quality
- Collaborate with leadership to identify opportunities for technological innovation and develop plans to capitalize on them to remain category leader
- Shipgreat products at high velocity and with high quality and within budget
- Work closely with the executive team to develop the product roadmap and ensure timely execution of product deliverables.
- Nurture strong relationships with key stakeholders, including investors, partners, and customers, effectively communicating strategy, progress and technical solutions.
- Establish and maintain relationships with external technology vendors, partners, and industry experts.
- Maintain best in class analytics that monitor key performance indicators and proactively identify priority investments
- Oversee the development and implementation of robust IT and software engineering processes and standards.
- Drive continuous improvement in system architecture, scalability, stability, performance, and security.
- Leverage AI/ML technologies to drive innovation and develop intelligent solutions that enhance our products and services.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven experience with at least 10 years leading global teams in the software industry, in scale up ($20 - 100M) with a proven ability to lead in a fast paced, disruptive environment whilst working with limited resources without sacrificing quality.
- Tertiary qualifications in Computer Science or Engineering
- A customer centric mindset - vital to have a solid understanding of who the final user is.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- Negotiation and problem solving skills - being able to negotiate with internal departments/stakeholders and being a creative thinker is essential in the fast paced scale up environment.
- A growth mindset and a strong sense of ownership, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment that has a passion for action.
- Proven leadership ability to build, manage, and develop high-performing engineering teams across multiple jurisdictions, countries and cultures.
- Deep understanding of AI, machine learning, and related technologies, with a passion for staying current with industry trends.
- Strong technical expertise and hands-on experience in software architecture, including designing scalable and robust systems.
- In-depth knowledge and experience with the breadth and depth of the Azure cloud platform, including infrastructure, services, and security.
- Demonstrated ability to set a technology vision and drive its execution, aligning with organizational goals. Strong team-building skills, with the ability to create a positive work environment that encourages creativity and growth.
