Turnaround Services is a specialised and dedicated unit at KPMG who operate in complex business environments usually characterised by declining profitability, industry headwinds, governance breakdown and / or a liquidity crisis.
Our team work with KPMG’s industry and domain experts to build turnaround plans that restore confidence, map out a high conviction pathway to sustainability and inform operational transformation.
We undertake meaningful and impactful work by collaborating with boards, sponsors and senior management to accelerate value realisation, transform with certainty and emerge stronger.
Your Opportunity
Our dedicated Turnaround Services team in Sydney is growing. In this role, as Manager, you will play a key part in the team by:
- Working on a range of interesting and challenging engagements covering our core Turnaround Services offerings including strategy appraisals, operational turnarounds and financial sustainability.
- Taking ownership on origination and overseeing engagements end-to-end in addition to having a voice in market on economic trends and industry headwinds.
- Deploying best in class data analytics to diagnose root causes of underperformance and designing integrated solutions for clients that incorporate strategic reasoning, financial analysis, modelling, data visualisation and report writing.
- Working collaboratively with the wider KPMG service offerings alongside colleagues from Mergers and Acquisitions, Debt Advisory, Transaction Services, Value Creation and Transformation Delivery amongst others.
- Working on national engagements across a diverse range of clients and challenges with a team that is both in the same office and across our national offices.

- You have the confidence and ability to prepare marketing proposals, pitch packs and undertake the analysis and evaluation of target opportunities.

Your Experience

- Recent professional experience in Big 4 / independent corporate advisory, management consulting, investment banking, or within commercial teams in operational businesses.
- Applicable experience working across turnaround strategy and / or value creation.
- Tertiary qualifications in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, Economics, or other relevant subjects. Ideally with a post-graduate qualification or on a pathway to complete (e.g., CA, CPA, CFA, MBA).
- The ability to prepare client deliverables, including reports and presentations, financial analysis.
- The ability to juggle competing demands and work as a team player in an energetic and results-based environment.
- You are comfortable and efficient with Excel to interpret and model data and generate insights and Powerpoint to prepare deliverables and marketing collateral.
- A bonus would be proficiency in data analytics tools including Alteryx and PowerBI.
