Management Accountant (Property Accounting) – Melbourne

About the Role
The Management Accountant is the key financial representative managing the full-cycle accounting for a portfolio of shopping centres and other real estate assets. The role covers both the commercial and compliance requirements of each asset, ensuring the accuracy and quality of reporting.
This client-facing role includes communicating information and insights to the senior executive team and landlord clients to support strategic business decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Reporting
- Complete quality and timely financial reports, including month-end analysis and commentary for each shopping centre in the portfolio.
- Provide reporting and analytics with commercial insights and commentary.
- Present financial reports in senior management and client meetings.
Business Partnering
- Provide value-adding business partnering to senior management, centre teams, and clients.
- Support management accounting across centres and head office departments.
- Develop key stakeholder relationships.
Forecast and Budget
- Prepare annual budgets and business plans; present to relevant stakeholders.
- Deliver quarterly forecasts by partnering with centre management and leasing teams, challenging assumptions, and providing financial insights.
Improvements
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, monthly reporting, and analytic tools.
- Drive continuous improvement of budgeting and forecasting modules.
Team Support
- Support and mentor junior staff within the finance team to foster learning and development.
Due Diligence
- Assist with due diligence analysis for new management projects and ad hoc project work.
- Contribute to business case development and executive reporting for decision-making.
Qualifications & Experience
- Tertiary qualification in accounting.
- CA/CPA qualified (or currently in progress).
Experience
- Retail property experience as a Property or Management Accountant highly regarded.
- Experience in stakeholder engagement and client relationship management.
Capabilities
- Proficient in MS Office and ERP accounting systems.
- Skilled in budgeting, forecasting, and meeting financial deadlines.
