About the team
At MA Financial, our real estate platform comprises approximately 250 professionals with deep expertise across origination, investment management, development and property operations.
We create and actively manage a diverse range of investment solutions, focused on delivering portfolio diversification and attractive risk-adjusted returns across market cycles.
Leveraging capabilities from across the firm, we invest in, own and operate a broad portfolio spanning both core and alternative assets. The Alternative Real Estate team’s sectors include hospitality, marinas, specialist disability accommodation, education camps, mixed use parks, health and aged care.
The team combines institutional investment expertise with hands-on asset management capability, enabling us to originate, execute and actively manage investments throughout the asset lifecycle.
Our investment approach is highly thematic and operationally focused, with an emphasis on sectors supported by long-term structural growth trends and active value creation opportunities.
We bring in-house operating capability across key sectors. Our marina business d’Albora operates the largest portfolio of marinas in Australia, while Redcape Hospitality operates one of Australia’s largest hospitality platforms.
Working closely with senior investment professionals, the team is involved across acquisitions, capital structuring, portfolio management, development strategy and operational initiatives across a range of alternative real estate sectors.
As an intern, you will gain exposure to a highly entrepreneurial team working across acquisitions, capital transactions, asset management and strategic initiatives within a fast-growing alternative real estate platform.
About the role
You will join our Alternative Real Estate team for an 8-10 week program where you will play an active role in the execution of a diverse range of transactions, working closely with senior team members.
We provide extensive on-the-job training, offering exposure to live deals and the opportunity to establish and grow your professional network with colleagues from across the business.
You will be mentored by some of the very best and brightest experienced professionals, gaining valuable industry insight and technical skills in a high-performing environment – equipping you with a strong foundation for a career in financial services.
Your responsibilities will include:
- assisting in the evaluation and execution of acquisitions, investments and capital transactions
- financial modelling, valuation and investment analysis
- supporting due diligence and transaction execution processes
- preparing investment committee papers, presentations and marketing materials
- conducting market, sector and company research
- assisting with portfolio and asset management initiatives
About you
- You are a university student in your penultimate year of study (we will also consider applications from final year students) with strong academic results
- Your studies have a finance / business / commerce /economics / law / engineering / science / mathematics / computer science focus
- You have excellent analytical and numerical skills
- You have strong communication and interpersonal skills
- You are a team player with a strong work ethic
- You are innovative, entrepreneurial and thrive in a fast-paced environment
- You have your own unique interests, perspectives and experience which adds diversity of thought and ideas to our team
