The Central, Data and Technology team are responsible for data architecture, analytics and AI across Macquarie Bank’s Financial Management, People and Engagement (FPE) division. As the global head of this function, you will lead a global team to shape and execute the data and AI the strategy and will act as deputy to the Head of Central, Data and Technology, playing a key role in defining how data and AI are embedded across finance, people, non-financial risk and operational platforms within the division.
Whilst we are open to candidates considering relocation, this role is based in Sydney.

In this new created position as Head of Data and AI, you will act as a senior leader within the Central, Data and Technology team and will be responsible for developing and executing the data architecture, analytics, AI strategy for the Financial Management, People and Engagement division. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, you’ll design data-driven decision-making processes and oversee the integration of data from various sources to create a unified and scalable data ecosystem.
This is a delivery-oriented, outcomes-driven position that requires a blend of strong technical acumen, AI expertise, enterprise data design i and the ability to influence stakeholders across a matrixed environment alongside a strong emphasis on governance, performance and compliance.
You’ll lead the development and deployment of advanced analytics solutions to support financial planning, tax optimisation, treasury management and people and talent strategies, while ensuring adherence to the global data governance frameworks, policies, and compliance standards. As a key contributor to the division’s transformation journey, you will work closely with C-level executives and stakeholders to align data initiatives with overall business objectives. Additionally, you will foster a culture of innovation and accountability within a global team of approximately 80 professionals, providing mentorship and driving professional development.
Leading the function, you will deploy the advancement of AI and ML solutions to drive competitive advantage, while continuously refining data governance frameworks to prioritise data quality, privacy, security, and AI ethics. By evaluating emerging AI technologies and trends, you will identify transformative opportunities, integrate cutting-edge solutions, and oversee the design of advanced analytics systems to optimise decision-making and operational efficiency.

  • Leadership - demonstrated success in defining and executing Group-wide data and AI strategies within complex financial institutions and leading large, cross-functional teams.
  • Technical depth - Hands-on experience with cloud architecture (preferably AWS), scalable data platforms, and data engineering, DevOps. Experience with AI/ML product delivery and platform integration will be highly regarded.
  • Product and transformation - End-to-end product management experience for data and AI solutions with measurable business impact and a proven track record in digital transformation.
  • Governance and risk - Expertise in data governance frameworks for quality, lineage, and access control. Additionally, you will possess a strong understanding of regulatory standards and best practices and their impact on data platforms.
