Your opportunity

As the National Security Manager, you drive the development and implementation of the Asset Management Security and Occupational Violence Strategy, with a primary focus on incident prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery. This role will prioritise the safety and security of both people and assets across the Office, Industrial, BTR and Retail portfolios, contributing to risk reduction and operational resilience.

Your responsibilities will include:

Security Strategy & Risk Management

  • Develop, implement, and oversee comprehensive security frameworks to mitigate risks across all assets.
  • Conduct ongoing risk assessments and audits to identify vulnerabilities and develop action plans.
  • Ensure alignment of security measures with broader business objectives and regulatory requirements.

Incident Response & Crisis Management

  • Establish and lead crisis response protocols, ensuring readiness for security incidents, occupational violence, and emergencies.
  • Implement training programs and conduct simulations to enhance response capabilities.
  • Oversee incident investigations, ensuring accurate reporting and post-incident reviews to drive continuous improvement.

Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration

  • Foster collaboration with internal teams (Technical, Asset, Operations) and external partners (security vendors, emergency services).
  • Build trusted relationships with residents, tenants, and retail partners, enhancing overall community resilience.
  • Act as a liaison between leadership and operational teams to ensure consistent communication and alignment.

Vendor & Partner Management

  • Oversee external security and cleaning providers, ensuring service quality aligns with contractual obligations and strategic goals.
  • Drive performance improvement initiatives and lead contract negotiations.

Compliance & Reporting

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant security, health, and safety legislation.
  • Develop and maintain reporting mechanisms to track security performance, incidents, and response times.
  • Present regular updates to executive leadership and stakeholders.

Leadership

  • Inspire and align teams around a clear security vision, embedding a culture of safety, preparedness, and resilience.
  • Navigate complex stakeholder environments with confidence and build consensus to drive outcomes.
  • Demonstrate calm, decisive leadership in high-pressure situations, prioritising people and asset safety.
  • Drive innovation by identifying new technologies, trends, and processes to enhance security measures.
  • Promote a One Mirvac approach, ensuring that security is embedded into daily operations and team values.

Your point of difference

  • 10+ years of experience in property/operational security leadership roles
  • Extensive knowledge of the security industry, security legislation, security risk management and physical security systems
  • Strong demonstrated experience in relationship management with internal customers, external clients and contractors with strong diplomacy, contract management with a focus on identifying and building key client relationships.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and delivering security and occupational violence strategy.
  • Familiarity with the Australian and international security landscape for and established contacts within state and federal agencies.
  • Experience in training development and oversight, ensuring compliance with high standards of security preparedness.
  • Strong relationship-building skills with government agencies, law enforcement, and community leaders.
  • Exceptional crisis management abilities with a demonstrated ability to remain calm and efficient in high-stress situations.
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills to manage multiple ongoing projects.
  • Budget and financial management experience to support the planning and allocation of resources.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to provide clear, concise guidance to various stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated skills and experience in facilitating training within a security environment
  • Have a security advisors license or be able to get one
