Mott MacDonald, a leader in the engineering industry is seeking an experienced construction manager to join our team in Portland, OR working on minor to moderately complex construction projects . You will be responsible for overall project/construction management and maintaining scope, budget, schedules and more. As a construction manager, you will have the following responsibilities:
- Highly involved in construction project management ensuring efficient and effective resource management facilitating construction management and planning associated with the design of engineering projects such as Ports, and highways.
- Manage and ensure compliance of engineering construction contracts, serve as primary contact between clients and construction contractors, typically for projects with defined scope.
- Negotiate change orders, claims, disputes, and disagreements.
- Review project schedules and work practices, and manage contract submittal, RFI process, and quality assurance program to ensure contract compliance.
- Manage written correspondence with necessary parties and adapt pre-established templates as necessary.
- Engage stakeholders. Conduct weekly project meetings, generate, and record meeting minutes and coordinate construction requirements with project managers, engineers, clients and local agencies.
- Directly perform and/or manage construction contract cost control systems and provide guidance and supervision to administrative staff performing project controls functions.Establish Work Breakdown Strictures for project accounting requirements
- Generate CPM schedules, review, and comment on contractor CPM schedule submittals.
- Generate content and draft responses to contractor claims for management review.Respond to contractor claims.
- Coordinate with other departments (Environmental Services, Finance, Risk, Contracts and Procurement, Information Technology, etc.) to ensure requirements and polices are addressed in construction contracts.
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications”
- Bachelor’s degree in the relevant field.
- At least 10-15 years of experience
- Professional Engineer Registration in Oregon is desirable but not required.
- Depth of managerial and engineering experience working on large infrastructure projects
- Demonstrated experience working with clients and contractors.
- Experience with claims management and resolution.
- Knowledge of control systems design, construction and start up/commissioning and testing.
- Experience of project management processes, from feasibility and design through construction and close-out.
- Skills in structural engineering, geotechnics, and ports.
- Have the necessary drive to achieve their goals and deliver commercial success.
- Be innovative looking to develop their technical and management skills and willing to tackle any challenge.
