We are looking for a Head of Platform Engineering to lead and scale our core platform that powers enterprise deployments across AWS, Azure and customer private cloud or on-prem environments.
This role owns the architecture, reliability, security, scalability, and developer experience of our platform. You will lead a high-impact engineering team comprised of internal and outsourcing vendors and will be responsible for cloud infrastructure, DevOps, SRE, and platform services used by product engineering and customers globally.
This is a hands-on leadership role requiring deep technical expertise and strong people leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Platform & Architecture Leadership
- Own the end-to-end architecture of a multi-cloud and on-prem platform supporting enterprise deployments.
- Design and evolve platform services for:
- Deployment automation
- Observability & monitoring
- Security & compliance
- CI/CD pipelines
- Configuration and release management
- Ensure platform scalability, availability, and performance for production workloads.
Engineering Leadership
- Build, mentor, and manage a high-performing team of Platform, DevOps, and SRE engineers both internal and from outsourcing vendors
- Establish engineering best practices for:
- Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Helm, etc.)
- Kubernetes and container orchestration
- Reliability engineering and incident response
- Drive a culture of operational excellence, automation, and quality.
Multi-Cloud & On-Prem Operations
- Lead deployments across:
- Public clouds (AWS, Azure)
- Private cloud / data center / edge environments
- Standardize deployment frameworks for different customer environments.
- Optimize cost, performance, and security across heterogeneous infrastructure.
Security & Compliance
- Own platform security posture:
- Identity & access management
- Network security
- Secrets management
- Vulnerability management
- Support enterprise compliance needs (ISO, SOC2, GDPR, etc.).
- Partner with product and security teams on threat modeling and audits.
Developer Experience
- Build internal developer platforms and tooling to accelerate product teams.
- Improve:
- Build times
- Deployment velocity
- Debugging and observability
- Create self-service infrastructure and clear documentation.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with:
- Product Management
- Customer Engineering / Professional Services
- Security & Compliance
- Support & Operations
- Support key customer deployments and escalations.
- Translate business requirements into technical platform strategy.
Required Qualifications
- 12+ years of experience in software or platform engineering
- 5+ years leading engineering teams (Manager / Director / Head role)
- Experience in managing outsourcing vendors with established SLAs
- Strong hands-on experience with:
- Kubernetes, Docker, microservices
- Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure)
- CI/CD systems (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab, etc.)
- Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, Helm)
- Experience supporting enterprise or regulated customer environments
- Proven track record running production platforms at scale
- Strong understanding of:
- Networking
- Security
- Observability
- High availability architectures
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with on-prem or edge deployments
- Background in SaaS, enterprise software, or deep-tech startups
- Exposure to data platforms, AI/ML platforms, or distributed systems
- Experience with SOC2 / ISO27001 compliance
