In the role of Product Consultant, you will play a key part in shaping credit strategy and optimising the performance of NAB’s home lending portfolio.

You’ll work across functions to extract, interrogate and interpret complex data, developing insights that inform credit strategy, optimise capital and support execution of key initiatives. With a deep analytical skillset and broad exposure to home lending, you’ll be relied upon to turn data into compelling narratives, clear recommendations and actionable decision making for senior stakeholders.

This is a critical role in the Mortgage Credit team, offering high visibility and the opportunity to influence portfolio outcomes, risk appetite settings, capital optimisation and key strategic decisions.

Our people are customer obsessed. They prioritise the needs and satisfaction of the customer above all else. Our mindset fosters innovation and creates strong, lasting customer relationships as we strive to be the most customer centric company in Australia and New Zealand.

Each day, you’ll go above and beyond to:

  • Extract, integrate and analyse data across credit strategy, capital optimisation, LMI and home loan performance using advanced analytical tools (e.g. SAS, SQL) to generate actionable insights.
  • Develop and communicate clear, data-driven recommendations that optimise portfolio performance, credit strategy, capital optimisation and LMI settings, supporting senior stakeholder decision-making.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams - including credit, data, risk, product, operations and LMI partners - to ensure insights inform strategy, execution and delivery.
  • Drive process improvement and uplift analytical capability by identifying opportunities to enhance data quality, technology platforms and analytical tools.
  • Apply curiosity, critical thinking and independent problem-solving to challenge assumptions, support strategic projects and ensure alignment with the bank’s credit risk objectives.

What you will bring:

  • Strong analytical and problem solving capability, with experience using SAS, SQL or similar statistical and analytical tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to extract, integrate and manipulate data, and convert it into insights for senior stakeholders, leveraging strong communication / storytelling skills by distilling complexity into clarity.
  • Experience working with home lending portfolios and credit strategy development.
  • Ability to work cross functionally, collaborating with multiple teams across credit, data, risk, product and external LMI partners.
  • Curiosity, independence of thought and a desire to explore problems, generate ideas and test hypotheses.
  • 4+ years’ experience in statistical decision tools or analytics within a credit strategy development environment.
  • Tertiary qualifications in a quantitative field such as statistics, economics, actuarial studies, data science or mathematics.
