Imagine preventing wildfires before they start, or ensuring power grids stay resilient during extreme weather. That’s the real-world impact we create every day at Neara.

We build 3D physics-enabled digital twins of critical infrastructure networks that help utilities and infrastructure companies run scenarios, assess risks, and make smarter decisions that affect millions of lives.

We’re not just another tech company - we’re TIME’s 2024 Most Influential Company making tangible differences in communities worldwide. We're backed by some of the world’s leading venture capital investors.

Our team is passionate, brilliant, and genuinely excited about solving problems that matter. We’ve built something special here: a culture where everyone owns our mission, innovation thrives, and great work gets recognised. And now we’re ready for our next chapter of growth.

Some of the world’s largest utilities depend on Neara to answer their most pressing investment, disaster management, and strategic questions across risk, safety, resiliency, and more. Our software stands apart by uniquely mixing engineering-grade detail with network-wide scale.

Our ambition is to redefine the future of critical infrastructure intelligence. We need smart, creative, driven people to help us achieve it.

Shape the premium visual experience across Neara’s product, brand, and go-to-market presence.

We’re looking for a Senior Visual Designer to lead the aesthetic evolution of Neara across our core application, design system, website, and all customer-facing materials. This is a rare, dual-impact role that blends high-end product UI craftsmanship with premium marketing and brand execution, driving a cohesive visual identity across every touchpoint in the customer journey.

You’ll partner closely with Product, Engineering, Marketing, and Sales to elevate our visual standards and strengthen the clarity, consistency, and impact of our brand. As our first dedicated hire in this area, you’ll have significant ownership, and the runway to influence future resourcing as we scale.

What you will do

We’re at an important inflection point where elevating our visual experience will improve user trust, accelerate adoption, strengthen our brand presence, and enable our Sales and Marketing teams to move faster with higher-impact assets. This role exists to lead that transformation.

You will be Neara’s visual design authority: Shaping how our brand is expressed across product UI, the design system, website, campaigns, and customer-facing collateral. Marketing owns brand strategy; you will own the execution of how that brand comes to life visually across all digital touchpoints. You’ll work across Product and Marketing streams to uplift visual standards, create consistency, and embed a premium, cohesive design language throughout the entire customer journey.

Product & Experience Design

  • Lead the visual evolution of the Neara platform by auditing and refining key screens, flows, and components to deliver a premium, cohesive aesthetic.

  • Own the aesthetic layer of the Figma design system, refining hierarchy, colour, typography, spacing, motion, and interaction states.

  • Collaborate with Product Designers, Engineers, and PMs to ensure visual polish enhances clarity, usability, and intuitive interaction.

  • Translate complex UI states into elegant, marketing-ready visuals for use in campaigns, paid media, and key moments.

  • Deliver a prioritised backlog of high-impact visual improvements and implement a plan for uplifting the most impactful screens (e.g., Login, Onboarding, Home).

Brand, Marketing & Collateral Design

  • Redesign and unify all customer-facing materials: Decks, brochures, templates, website pages, banners, and event assets; Ensuring every touchpoint expresses Neara’s premium identity.

  • Build and maintain a scalable master marketing template library across formats, including Ceros for landing pages and web content, and Google Slides for sales and marketing decks.

  • Partner with Marketing to refresh the public website’s visual language, elevating clarity, sophistication, and overall brand perception.

  • Provide ongoing visual design support for campaigns, events, category launches, and other time-sensitive initiatives.

  • Create powerful visuals that communicate Neara’s physics-based, 3D spatial modelling and platform differentiators across channels.

Cross-Functional Impact

  • Serve as Neara’s trusted visual design authority across both Product and Marketing; Guiding teams on aesthetics, interaction design, motion, and brand execution.

  • Establish consistency and excellence across all channels by setting, documenting, and championing premium visual standards.

  • Deliver early “quick wins” that demonstrate immediate value while laying the foundation for long-term design systems and scalable assets.

  • Build strong relationships across teams, balancing dual streams of work and influencing stakeholders through high-quality execution.

  • Help set the stage for future growth of the visual design function, with the potential to shape and mentor a supporting team as Neara scales.

Who you are

  • 5+ years in digital, visual, UI, or product design roles within SaaS or technology environments.

  • A strong, diverse portfolio showcasing exceptional visual craft across both: complex product UI and high-end marketing/communications collateral (decks, brochures, websites, campaigns).

  • Expert proficiency in Figma, with strong skills in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator).

  • Experience collaborating within agile product teams, shipping production-ready UI design and working closely with engineers, PMs, and product designers.

  • Ability to translate complex product/UI states into compelling marketing visuals for websites, ads, and campaigns.

  • Strong understanding of visual hierarchy, typography, colour, spacing, interactions, and motion.

  • Excellent communication skills — able to articulate design decisions clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Comfort working across both Product and Marketing streams, managing multiple priorities with autonomy and accountability.

Nice-to-have

  • Experience with Ceros (or ability to upskill quickly).

  • Experience designing for mobile applications.

  • Familiarity with brand systems, brand architecture, or brand strategy.

  • Experience with motion design tools such as Rive, Lottie, or Protopie.

  • Experience designing for 3D, spatial modelling, or physics-based products.

  • Exposure to category-launch creative or complex cross-channel campaigns.

Capabilities & Attributes we look for:

  • Autonomous & Proactive: Sees opportunities and acts decisively without waiting for instruction.

  • Pragmatic & Systems Oriented: Designs for scale, clarity, and long-term reusability.

  • Collaborative & Low Ego: Works fluidly across teams and values feedback.

  • Detail Obsessed: Deep appreciation for craft, polish, and premium visual quality.

  • Energetic & Entrepreneurial: Thrives in a fast moving environment and is motivated by building, not maintaining.

  • Adaptable: Balances multiple streams of work and navigates changing priorities with ease.

Why work here

  • Competitive salary + ESOP. Significant career development and growth opportunities.

  • Flexible working arrangements with a well-stocked office in Redfern.

  • Highly meritocratic, non-bureaucratic, and no-ego work culture.

  • The opportunity to work on complex, meaningful products and real-world problems.

  • The opportunity to play a direct, critical role in the trajectory of a high growth company.

  • Neara values diversity, belonging, and equal employment opportunities. We encourage individuals from all backgrounds to apply.
