Who are we
At NZTE we use our extensive knowledge and global networks to help New Zealand exporters of all sizes connect to the right partners and investors. By supporting New Zealand businesses, we boost New Zealand's economy and reputation, and help to share what's special about New Zealand with the rest of the world.
Our Infrastructure and Security team is leading the way in technology enablement to help our boat go faster! We are after a forward thinker and for someone to guide our decision making on how things get engineered in our organisation.
What you’ll be doing
You will be working in amongst a nimble and extremely talented team of engineers - we like to be leading/bleeding edge with our digital technology, so you will be current with your skills and your thinking. We have operations in every time zone around the world so you won’t be bored.
We are looking for someone with awesome Microsoft Azure cloud infrastructure skills - Design, maintenance, provisioning and optimisation of cloud resources. A solid network and security background would be great too!
Along with this you will:
· Manage the cloud infrastructure environment using cross-technology administration (OS, databases, virtual networks), scripting, and monitoring automations.
· Contribute to architecture standards and guidelines, ensuring best practices are included in cloud future state architectures and roadmaps.
· Support Azure environments to ensure uptime, performance, and SLAs.
· Identify and resolve any incidents that arise in NZTE’s cloud infrastructure environment and support incidents and requests relating to compute, security, network, storage, and automation.
· Drive best-practice and stay abreast of new and emerging technologies and trends.
For this role there is an element of after-hours support on a rostered, on-call basis
What you’ll need to be successful
If you’re known to be a real do'er, have a great attitude and like thinking outside the box, we would love to hear from you! There will be no drawing of pretty visio diagrams all day every day, you need to be a true builder - imagine it, discuss it, build it! In this role you will part of a team that keeps things alive – you will be known for fixing outages and intelligently solving problems.
We move fast, so it's critical you like working at pace; we avoid decision by committee too, so you need to be fast thinking and have a bias for action. You must be a real team player - for us, the team is everything.
Why you’ll love working here
We thrive on improving and growing our IT capabilities within NZTE, which in turn enables our people to work more efficiently and effectively for our customers. We have a strong, supportive learning culture where experimentation is more powerful than perfection - 'giving it a go' is the best way to learn. We know that life isn’t all about work so we like a bit of flexibility and we’ll give you the right technology to allow you to balance life. We’ll encourage you, your wellbeing and your growth journey with us. If that’s not enough, you’ll also get five weeks annual leave!
