This full-time, permanent opportunity is based in Polanco, Mexico City.
Te Taurapa Tūhono | New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE) is the government agency charged with helping New Zealand businesses to grow internationally. By supporting New Zealand businesses, we boost New Zealand's economy and reputation, and help to share what's special about New Zealand with the rest of the world.
An exciting opportunity exists for a proven international Business Growth Advisor, who is passionate about coaching New Zealand export businesses, as well as experience in Technology, Manufacturing or Consumer Goods sector business consulting and/or international business sales to join our Mexico team.
What you will be doing
As a Business Growth Advisor, you'll join a team passionate about representing New Zealand in Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean. You'll coach and guide New Zealand businesses to commercial success by defining their unique selling proposition and positioning them in their sector.
This role focuses on growing an existing portfolio of customers. We seek two experienced Business Growth Advisors with:
· Strong focus in Agritech, advanced manufacturing, mining, and resources.
· Experience in SaaS, AI, health tech, and education tech. Services and consumer goods experience is a plus.
You'll need excellent written and verbal English skills to guide English-speaking businesses and partners. You'll develop and execute business growth plans using your commercial acumen and existing relationships. You'll provide expert advice on market navigation and strategic relationships, offer market insights through research and analysis, develop niche approaches to maximize new channels and identify growth opportunities, and conduct competitor analysis to shape strategies and business models.
What you’ll need to be successful
To be successful, you need a solid understanding of growing international businesses in Mexico. You'll use your consulting skills to coach and advise export businesses.
Experience in business consulting, sales, marketing, account management, and project management.
· Knowledge of regulatory frameworks.
· Strong personal networks in agritech or technology sectors in Mexico.
· Excellent listening, influencing, and communication skills in English and Spanish.
You'll also need a growth mindset, initiative, and critical thinking skills to problem-solve and get things done for clients. Being action-oriented with strategic capability and teamwork skills is crucial. You'll turn market knowledge into actionable insights that drive competitive advantage, and strong planning, time management, and organizational skills will be key to your success in this busy and varied role.
Fluency in both English and Spanish, ideally with a tertiary business qualification and it would be advantageous if you have experience in project management.
Please note this role has an internal title of Business Development Manager (BDM).

Please note:
- This is a 'locally engaged' position so you must have the right to work in Mexico.
- NZTE operates a hybrid work environment that operates at least three in-office days in Polanco however some flexibility is required depending on customers or events.
- NZTE provides a monthly salary range between MXN 62,000 - MXN 110,000, plus benefits.
