We are looking for a commercially savvy Business Development Analyst to work with our talented team of Business Development Managers, guiding New Zealand exporters entering and expanding in the United States.
This role is based in San Francisco and requires days in-office.
Who we are:
New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE) is New Zealand's international business development agency. We are a hands-on, collaborative and commercial team, working with some of New Zealand's most forward-thinking and innovative companies.
What you will be doing:
We help New Zealand companies maximize their market entry success by identifying their US ICP, potential in-market partners and growth opportunities. To do this we are looking for a high energy and collaborative team member to join our San Francisco team as a Business Development Analyst.
This role provides amazing exposure to a diverse range of sectors; the focus will be on Technology, Services and Healthcare but may also include Manufacturing and Food & Beverage. You’ll work closely with our Business Development Managers to meet business’ needs to understand how to best position their product to ensure a successful US go-to-market plan.
This is a varied role and cover a range of tasks:
• Market insights gathering and analytics
• Competitor analysis
• Partner/distributor search
• Project support
You will use your analysis and reporting skills to provide valuable insights which enable our customers to make better business decisions. You’ll be proactive, curious and it’s second nature to you to seek out quality information that adds value.
What you will need to be successful:
You’ll be professional, have strong attention to detail and be quick to pick up new concepts and ideas – comfortable working across multiple projects and teams at once, with exceptional time management skills. You’ll be technically savvy with skills in Microsoft Excel, Copilot and other Gen AI LLMs and PowerPoint, Power BI experience would advantageous but not a must. You’ll possess a deep interest in international trade, GTM strategies and be excited by innovation.
You'll have a continuous improvement mindset and a drive for results, comfortable communicating with a wide range of stakeholders in North America and in New Zealand. You'll be inquisitive, actively sourcing information to expand your market knowledge. You'll love knowing that your support to the others in the team has helped them develop a deeper more strategic engagement with their customers.

An indicative total compensation range for this role is between USD $111,000 - $123, 000 per year – please note this is a total package and is inclusive of a metallic platinum medical insurance plan with dental and vision coverage.
NZTE currently operates in a hybrid working environment, with time required in the San Francisco office as well as flexible work-from-home options.
This role may require some domestic travel.
