This role is based in Sydney
Who are we
Te Taurapa Tūhono | New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE) is the government agency charged with helping New Zealand businesses to grow internationally. By supporting New Zealand businesses, we boost New Zealand's economy and reputation, and help to share what's special about New Zealand with the rest of the world.
What you'll be doing
We’re seeking a hands-on Business Advisor to join our Australia-Pacific (AusPac) team for six months, supporting the development and implementation of new planning and operational approaches – including regional sector planning. Reporting to the Regional Director – AusPac, you’ll work closely with the Australia & Pacific Leadership Team, helping to systematise processes and convert strategic concepts into actionable plans. This is “doing” role, ideal for someone who thrives on execution and delivery, not just high-level strategising.
You will play a pivotal role supporting the Australia & Pacific Leadership Team, sourcing data and insights to inform regional decision-making and prioritisation. Your work will support world-class service delivery, helping solve strategic and customer challenges.
This is your chance to make a tangible impact on New Zealand’s international growth story. The work will be varied and will focus on:
· Structuring ongoing and planned work, focusing on planning, process development and documentation.
· Work closely with the Regional Director and Leaders to convert sector plans into detailed operational plans.
· Support strategy development and 90-day planning cycles.
· Drive project work execution, such as the support programmes for early-stage export customers, including business case development and customer-facing documentation.
· Create actionable workflows, project plans, PowerPoints and other materials to translate discussions into stakeholder-ready formats targeted to varied audiences.
· Driving continuous improvement by identifying opportunities for efficiency, simplicity, and collaboration.
What You’ll Need to Be Successful
You will possess at least 4 years of commercial experience, with strong skills in business analysis, stakeholder management, project delivery and a drive for continuous improvement. Ideally, you will possess existing experience working with or advising businesses, maximising commercial outcomes. You will excel at supporting leadership to identify and implement initiatives that benefit the organisation and drive impact for customers. This role requires someone who can take ideas and concepts and turn them into concrete action plans and deliverables.
You'll be a people person who enjoys building professional relationships with a range of key stakeholders and engages collaboratively to drive results. You'll also be a team player with great problem-solving skills, able to manage multiple priorities and deliver a high standard of proactive support. Additionally, to be successful in this role you will need to be comfortable operating in a highly commercial and ambiguous environment where priorities can rapidly change. You’ll have high attention to detail, able to self-direct and deliver under tight deadlines, calm under pressure, always one step ahead!
Why You’ll Love Working Here
NZTE offers a flexible, supportive and energising environment. You’ll work with talented people across the world, access cutting-edge business networks, and support Kiwi companies doing ambitious and meaningful things. We invest in our people with flexibility, modern tools, development opportunities and a culture where you can bring your whole self to work.
