Who are we
Te Taurapa Tūhono | New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE) is the government agency helping New Zealand businesses to grow internationally. We connect ambitious companies with the capital, capability, and networks they need to succeed on the world stage. Our new Capital Solutions team is being established to better meet the commercial needs of our customers, with a strong focus on working collaboratively across NZTE, the investor ecosystem, and directly with business customers to drive impact.
What you’ll be doing
We are seeking two highly capable and motivated finance professionals to join our team as Capital Solutions Managers. As a Capital Solutions Manager, you will play a pivotal role in developing and accelerating exporters’ financial capability, working with business leadership teams to help them identify, connect with and secure the right funding options to support their international growth. You’ll work closely with business leaders, boards, investors and internal stakeholders to provide in-depth capital and financial guidance, enabling companies to make informed decisions when seeking capital to export internationally.
You’ll act a trusted advisor to export businesses, consulting with growth companies, supporting them to assess they are adequately capitalised for their growth plans and have access to the resources and connections they need to succeed on the world stage.
Key responsibilities include:
· Managing an active pipeline of customers, developing strong trusted relationships with your customers, deeply understanding their needs and providing quality advice.
· Advising on funding mechanisms, capital requirements, and potential sources of capital for export customers.
· Supporting companies to raise capital, including business model analysis and engagement with the investment ecosystem.
· Providing guidance on strategic planning, financial modelling, and funding requirements to drive growth outcomes.
· Preparing companies for investment by supporting business cases, pitch documents, and investor reports.
· Leading financial discussions with senior management and boards, and mobilising capital for investment opportunities.
· Building and maintaining trusted relationships with NZ organisations, boards and industry bodies, local and national governmental bodies business and industry leaders, banks, brokers, and fund managers.
· Collaborating closely with the Invest NZ Team to facilitate and conclude investments, including Foreign Direct Investment.
What you’ll need to be successful
We are seeking a commercially astute professional with a strong foundation in financial, analytical, and investment operations, and a deep understanding of New Zealand’s sectors and corporate finance. You will be results-driven, collaborative, and able to influence at senior levels.
Our ideal candidate is an investment or corporate finance focused professional ideally with funds/ investment banking background, start-up, big-4 or corporate experience with strong relationship and project management skills. This role will connect you across the domestic and global capital raising ecosystem and offers strong career potential to develop your investment or business skills either within NZ or offshore.
Key requirements:
· Proven experience developing and executing complex projects from concept to delivery.
· Strong analytical skills and experience evaluating financial data and models.
Experience in investment banking, mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance, and/or capital raising is preferred.
· Ability to build and manage relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
· Strong understanding of global trends and capital markets.
· Excellent written communication and report writing skills.
· Tertiary qualification in Finance, Economics, Commerce, or Accountancy (is preferred).
· International market experience is desirable.
