Global Relocations & Experience Manager
New Zealand Trade and Enterprise
Wellington, New Zealand
Posted on Mar 13, 2026
This role is based in Wellington.
Who we are:
New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE)’s purpose is simple – to grow companies internationally, bigger, better and faster, for the good of New Zealand.
At NZTE, our people work across the globe to support Kiwi businesses to succeed on the world stage. We are One Global Team, connected by ambition, trust and manaaki, and driven by the opportunity to deliver impact for New Zealand.
What you’ll be doing:
As our Global Relocation & Experience Manager, you’ll lead NZTE’s global mobility system with clear end-to-end accountability for relocation outcomes, experience and risk across the organisation.
You’ll own the expat and family relocation, induction and repatriation experience, making confident, defensible judgement calls where policy, wellbeing, cost and reputational considerations intersect. Acting as NZTE’s senior mobility authority, you’ll provide expert guidance on complex immigration, visa and diplomatic matters, and partner closely with leaders across NZTE and the wider NZ Inc network.
You’ll design and evolve NZTE’s global mobility strategy and operating model, embedding scalable systems, digital workflows and automation to reduce risk, improve transparency and enhance experiences.
A core part of the role is leading continuous improvement of NZTE’s end to end induction and onboarding experience, including the design and delivery of a cohort-based relocation approach that balances consistency with market specific flexibility.
This is a lead through influence role, operating at an enterprise level, where success relies on sound judgement, system design and strong partnerships rather than direct people leadership.
You will:
Own NZTE’s end to end global mobility system, including relocation, induction and repatriation, ensuring outcomes are consistent, compliant and experience led.
Set and evolve NZTE’s global mobility strategy and operating model, clarifying decision rights, escalation pathways and accountabilities so mobility works at scale.
Act as NZTE’s senior mobility authority, providing interpretation and final judgement on complex immigration, visa, diplomatic and International Terms & Conditions matters.
Lead the design and continuous improvement of NZTE’s relocation and induction experience, embedding cohort-based approaches where they add value.
Design and implement scalable systems, digital workflows and automation, reducing manual effort, ambiguity and organisational risk.
Provide trusted advisory coaching to senior leaders, GMs International, Regional Office Managers and People teams on complex mobility decisions.
Own and manage key external mobility partners, setting clear expectations, negotiating value and resolving issues to improve experience, cost and risk outcomes.
What you’ll need to be successful:
Ideally you will bring deep global mobility expertise and the confidence to operate in complex and ambiguous environments where judgement and strong attention to detail is critical. However, you may come from a mobility, travel, operational design, or strong EA/admin support background, where you can identify strong transferable skills in this area.
You’ll be known for:
Proven experience operating in complex global environments, balancing logistics, people, cost, wellbeing and reputational risk.
Experience with relocation logistics, immigration and visa processes and diplomatic considerations would be advantageous.
Strong judgement-based decision making, the ability to make sound, defensible decisions where information is incomplete, competing priorities exist or stakeholder views may differ.
Systems thinking and the ability to design scalable operating models that replace adhoc workarounds.
Proven experience designing and improving end to end experiences, including digital workflows, automation and AI enabled tools – identifying, creating and implementing process improvements.
Excellent communication, influence and relationship management skills, with the ability to explain complex decisions clearly and empathetically.
Strong coordination and prioritisation skills across multiple stakeholders, time zones and competing demands.
A continuous improvement mindset, balancing policy intent with operational reality.
Why you’ll love working here:
NZTE offers flexible work arrangements of 3 days in the office, a dynamic and purpose driven environment, and the chance to build valuable business networks with a talented, diverse team. Our collaborative approach supports delivering greater value to customers - this is your opportunity to make a real impact for New Zealand on a global scale.
