Propeller is a front-end responsive framework based on Google’s Material Design standards and Bootstrap. Created at Digicorp, Propeller is a first step towards giving it back to the community. Why did we create Propeller? Propeller is crafted by the creative minds at Digicorp. Designers and developers face some common obstacles while developing web-based apps and websites. They are mostly related to: - Re-usability. For instance, writing the same lines of code from scratch for every project instead of reusing it. - Maintaining code standards. For instance, each developer uses her own coding style unless a standard practice is laid down for her to use. Things become worse when multiple developers are placed on a single project or a developer has to make changes to someone else’s code. - Turnaround time. This is affected in the absence of re-usability and dependency on developers. We thought that if we can figure out a solution around these obstacles, it would help us maintain the quality of products we build for ourselves and our clients (mostly startups) and ship them faster too. Solutions: - Create a component library with default custom stylings along with refined animations and transitions to provide a smoother experience, saving time for basic customization and helping in creating quick prototypes. - Reduce the amount of decisions that developers need to make when writing code, helping them to focus on logic rather than on semantics and formatting. - Eliminate repetitive tasks like minification, compilation, unit testing, linting, etc. - Provide carefully crafted starter templates and themes meeting high-quality design and functionality standards using Propeller components which make them easily expandable. Propeller was launched in October 2016 with a vision to enable front-end developers and designers to build websites and web-based apps faster, better, and more beautifully.
