Oura’s engineering organization consists of talented developers distributed across the EU and US. For day-to-day feature work, our engineers are organized into smaller cross-functional feature squads or teams. Our squads have a great deal of autonomy and are responsible for the development and architecture of their features. Squads take full ownership of their code and handle everything from concepting, design and implementation to release, maintenance and bug fixes.

Your team, the Personalization Squad, is dedicated to building AI-driven user experiences and technology solutions for personalization. In this role, you would focus specifically on innovating user interface solutions related to AI and enhancing our app-side personalization-related architecture, including data models and computational architecture.

While this role is primarily for an iOS engineer, if you possess both an interest in and technical experience working with cloud backend and LLM technologies, there are opportunities to engage in both app-side and server-side tasks.

This is an on-site or remote (hybrid) Finland-based role with a preference for candidates who are not fully remote and near our offices in Helsinki or Oulu.

This is either a mid-level or senior position.

What you will do:

  • Work together with a passionate team of engineers, designers, and product manager creating stellar product experiences around AI.
  • Develop and maintain high-quality iOS code with a focus on personalization features.
  • Ensure high quality through code reviews, automatic testing, and engineering best practices.
  • Drive forward our AI, personalisation and app architecture together with other engineers.
  • Collaborate with other teams and experts such as app engineers, ML engineers, behavioural scientists, and content creators.

We would love to have you on our team if you have:

  • A minimum of 3 years of professional development experience shipping iOS apps.
  • Strong experience with Swift and UIKit, modern iOS app architectures, and common third-party libraries and frameworks.
  • Experience with collaborative development on complex shared codebases.
  • Proficiency with Git, branching, and standard code review workflows.
  • A focus on quality through unit tests and manual testing.
  • You deeply care about what you build as a whole, both from an engineering and end-user perspective.

We also appreciate if you have one or more of the following:

  • Experience building products on top of LLMs.
  • Experience with any of the following iOS technologies: Swift structured concurrency, Combine, SQLite/GRDB, CoreAnimation, CoreGraphics, PyTorch.
  • Experience building backend systems (Python and AWS).
  • Ability to mentor other engineers and increase developer productivity across teams.
  • Experience working asynchronously across countries and time zones.
  • Experience with health, wellness, or fitness products.
  • Strong systems architecture and performance optimization experience.
  • Deep computer science fundamentals and design patterns knowledge
  • Contributions to open-source projects or an impressive personal portfolio
