We are looking for a ML Data Scientist to join our Science team. This role will focus on developing and validating the next generation of health sensing algorithms at Oura. Health sensing algorithms underpin the suite of features we offer to our members. As a ML data scientist, your work will have a wide ranging impact and provide the foundation for new insights delivered to millions of Oura members around the world.
Location: Finland, we have offices in Helsinki and Oulu
What You will do:
- Contribute to the research, development and deployment of signal processing and machine learning algorithms for Oura features/products based on a range of sensing modalities
- Build end-to-end ML solutions, from preprocessing to model training and evaluation, with a focus on scalability, real-world generalizability, and physiological accuracy.
- Design and support internal and external data collection studies to develop, evaluate, and benchmark new algorithms
- Develop and maintain reusable data analytics tools, which can be deployed at scale
- Document, summarize, and present data analysis and algorithm performance results with concrete actionable recommendations for a broad audience on a regular basis
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams and overseas stakeholders
We would love to have You on our team if You:
- Have 5+ years of experience in ML and biosignal processing, particularly with PPG, and wearable sensor data.
- Solid programming skills in Python and experience with code collaboration tools (git, peer review, etc). Experience with C/C++ is a plus.
- Demonstrate a proven ability to translate results into production-ready features
- Hold an advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in biomedical engineering, electrical engineering, machine learning, or a related field—or have equivalent practical experience.
- Bring a strong understanding of physiological systems and can apply engineering intuition to solve complex, noisy problems.
- Communicate clearly with technical and non-technical audiences, and collaborate well in cross-functional, fast-paced teams.
