Your new role
As a Risk Consultant, you’ll work closely with underwriters, brokers, and clients to identify, assess, and help manage commercial risks. This role is about guiding and supporting & developing trusted relationships. Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting property and liability risk assessments across commercial clients
- Writing clear, concise, and professional risk reports
- Providing practical, tailored risk mitigation advice
- Supporting underwriting teams with technical insights
- Building trust-based relationships with brokers and customers
- Planning and managing travel to client sites – mostly day trips, with occasional overnights and potential international visits
- Developing knowledge and capability through a comprehensive training programme
- Being part of a close-knit and highly regarded Risk Consulting team

About you
We’re looking for someone with the potential to grow into this role—not necessarily someone who has done it before. What matters most is your mindset, motivation, and ability to learn.
You’ll ideally have:
- A technical background – such as structural or mechanical engineering, or practical industry experience such as property or contract works (engineering) underwriting, claims or loss adjusting, for example
- Some experience in a customer-facing role, with the confidence to build rapport and ask the right questions
- Strong attention to detail and clear written communication skills
- The ability to manage your time and work autonomously when needed
- A genuine interest in risk management, workplace safety, and helping businesses in improving their operational resilience.
- Be tech-savvy individual who is comfortable using digital tools such as an iPad & mobile technology while on site, during fieldwork
- A full NZ driver’s licence and willingness to travel locally, regionally, with some overnight travel. Including international travel as you develop into the role.
